Sitting in the middle of Italy and what is it doing¬¬¬ raining,a lot. 2nd day of it but sunshine back tomorrow .

2nd day of taking the Apple cider the night before and it seems to be working. Tis a while since I have taken a nice big sighy breath and felt it working. With this weather I usually get a bit chesty but this time I have not. Do not think I will get too excited though as it needs,in my opinion, more time to prove it one way or the other.. Coincidence, maybe but yesterday was in the local Conad supermarket and would you believe it there was a bottle of Apple cider with honey.

Take care. R.

Hi MMYW

Not at the moment you would not, rain. What I am taking is not apple cider but Apple cider vinegar or known locally as Aceto di mele so no you can not get tipsy on it. I use 50/50 with water. A couple of tablespoons of each followed quickly by a teaspoon of honey.

Good as a salad dressing..

Ciao for now. R.

Apple cider VINEGAR??????????. 32deg,what a nice cool day that be. 3rd day running the VINEGAR seems to be working. Less breathlessness and can certainly feel the difference but I still will not get excited over it until the month is up. So far,so good. No need to bring any drink here as it is half price of the UK

Cheers all,

Ciao for now. R.

It's dull here but with a dead heat lurking underneath. The kind of heat that would make you tired and sweaty but as I'm having a 'no-exertion week, it's not bothering me.

But Thursday night, torrential rain fell all evening and It was so chilly, I turned on the heating. In July !!!

High temps forecast in Ireland next week so we'll all be falling like flies. We can really only operate in the rain. It's what we're used to

A day's rain is probably welcome in Italy, if it's been really hot. Can't vouch for the apple cider vinegar but I take honey in hot water most nights and find it quite soothing for aches and pains in throat and chest.

Let us know how you go with the cider vinegar.

The rain is not as welcome as other years as we have had quite a bit this year. Did you know that we get here in Abruzzo 3 times the average annual rainfall of Cambridgeshire. True. Unlike dusty, arid Spain Italy is quite green,in the spring as green as England. In rains like hell here and then it stops and the sun comes out, usually. Once you are acclimatised 40d is nice what with the gentle breeze, tis almost orgasmic. Ha Ha.

At the moment the cider vinegar is improving me quite a bit,so much so that I will look for nothing else at the moment. Fantastic and only 4 euros a month including the honey..

Take care,

Ciao for now. R.

I must take out my atlas and see where exactly Abruzzo is, in relation to other parts of Italy. I'm reckoning that it's north of Tuscany and east of La Marche but my geography is faulty at best. Puglia, down in the. povertystricken boot of Italy is being very much hyped as a tourist destination now. Even places like Bari are being described rhapsodically.

We have just regular Cider Vinegar over here, in fact I have a bottle in the cupboard that I bought for making salad dressing. Would that do ? I imagine it tastes disgusting enough to warrant being called a cure. Remember being lined up as kids and made take big spoons of Cod Liver Oil and Syrup of F(p)igs ?

I feel the need to try something now as I have inflammation at night and crackly noises, but during the day feel fairly OK and don't want to take more abs and steroids.

Ciao and enjoy the sunshine in La Bella Italia :)

My atlas was no help, I had to dig out an ancient Rough Guide to find it. It's pretty much off the beaten track, isn't It ? But the scenery must be wonderful.

You do make me laugh B.J. I reckon the map you have is a handown from Columbus. North of Tuscany it could be but east of La Marche would put it in the Adriatic Sea. Abruzzo is the other side of Italy level with Rome and south of La Marche. Southern Italy is closed when North Italy is not on holiday.

I think it has to Acerto de Mele to work and the more water you put with it the worse it is to take.

I used Red wine vinegar for the sauce when I make the sweet and sour pork. Malt vinegar,English, is still the best for salads and FISH AND CHIPS.

Ciao.

It's not my fault that in my very expensive Irish Times Desk Atlas, there is no mention of Abruzzo :) But I did persevere and managed to locate it. I had heard of Abruzzo in connection with some artist coming from there, one of the Renaissance artists, I think.

Anyhow, if you live in the a**e end of nowhere, you can't be surprised if people don't know where it is :) At least I went to the trouble of locating it :)

Yes, most of those are in my map but sadly, not Abruzzo. Should we write to the Irish Times to complain ?

How can you have a computer and not know something about a certain part of the world.

Not quite the a**e end of nowhere but people not knowing where it is is one of its biggest attractions. So much better than all the much spouted tourist spots . If I had my way it would be eradicated from all maps. Just to keep people away.

Not quite the little place you imagined aye!

Reckon this Apple cider vinegar is making me fighting fit.

4th day and it is fantastic. Increased my breathing 50%

Hmm ! How can I say this politely ? Of course I use a computer for researching a location but in this instance, I just wanted to see this area on the map, as I couldn't place it. It amazed me that there was an area of Italy that I hadn't heard of, so I wanted to locate it on the map. Thankfully for you, it isn't east of La Marche ( although Croatia wouldn't be a bad spot either). Clearly I meant west. It's because I'm into travel in a big way that I like my atlas and am always curious about somewhere I can't locate in my head.

BTW, where did the list of famous people from Abruzzo vanish to ? I saw it on my list of notifications and now it's nowhere to be seen. Bit like Abruzzo itself maybe :)

Anyhow, I was impressed. That's an awful lot of famous people from somewhere in the a**e end of nowhere :)

Wow ! That must be the entire population of Abruzzo :) Won't disagree with your take on Irish jokes :)

BTW we're having a heat wave in Ireland. 26 today and 27/28 forecast for tomorrow. The Met Service have issued an official Code Yellow Warning. And that's not a joke, honestly. It's set to last for two days, then back to business as usual - rain.
