Hello I've joined today. Have had various lung problems over the years

and am on oxygen 24/7. My current problem is blocked nose, I have a

prescribed steroid spray Beconase and anti histamine tablets which help

a bit, plus a saline spray. Could anyone advise me what to do next?

Kathy

Sorry but I'm also unable to offer any specific advise but thought I'd say hello anyway. This is a great site and I'm a relative newbie too. Everyone is really friendly and there's plenty of good advice and friendly chat.

Welcome to the site Kathy. This is the best bunch of people on here. You will learn so much. For my stuffy nose, I use XCLEAR. Its a nasal spray with xylitol in it. I use it in the winter, when I have a dry stuffy nose. Its all natural. Give it a try. They have it on amazon. 😊 Rubyxx

I've found that "sniffing" Olbas oil helps clear my blocked nose

Can't help with your problem Louis, but would like to welcome you to our lovely site

Have you been checked for Wegener's granulomatosis? It's not life-threatening but it can be seen on a chest X-Ray.

Have you tried a sinus rinse, brand name NeilMed? I always have congested sinuses and my doctor recommended using a rinse once or twice a day. It keeps the sinuses moist and helps rinse out bacteria.

I remember reading awhile back, that sinus infections are very hard to get rid of. A lot of people don't even realize that they still have an infection, then it will flare up, be given an antibiotic, the person feels better, but the infection doesn't completely go away.

Awhile back, I went to an ears, nose and throat specialist about my sinuses. She said that I had palups in my sinuses that causes the mucus to not drain very well, she said there is a surgical procedure that will open the sinus cavity and allow drainage. I said no to the surgery.

Hope this information helps, Beth

The simple remedy for blocked nose is as follows:

1. Breathe out

2. Close mouth and take large breath in through nose.

3. hold both nostrils so that no air escapes.

4. Remain like this until it is uncomfortable, then let out breath.

This should cure blocked nose. Repeat if necessary.

Look it up on Google. Apple cider vinegar for relief of sinus problems. It helped me.

I was having a problem and couldn't figure out why I was always breathing with my mouth open, seems as if my nose felt partially closed off..I could hold nostrils together and they were sticky inside even if I'd just blown my nose..it got to where it woke me up in the night and that was scary..I bought the Breathe Right strips and they have fixed my problem..they keep the nostrils open.. I've been very cautious with nasal sprays and etc because they can cause swelling of the nasal membranes and also become habit forming..have you been using them for a long time? Could they have caused nasal swelling? Just a thought..
