Good to have the decision made Kim. Don't forget to put up a photo and let us know how you are getting on with it. Hope it all goes smoothly.
Oh that will make such a difference for you....I resented having one in my house and wouldnt use it for ages which was so stupid
Its great when you need to carry things upstairs you just pop it all on your knee
Good for you Kim and hope it all works out well for you. We are having decorating done next month. We are paying someone to do it as can no longer manage. Pete used to do it all with a bit of help from me but those days are now long gone. Never mind, it will all look lovely. You take care. xxxx
Hi I am looking for a good Stair Lift finding the stairs too much. Can you tell me the 3 quotes and what company please !!
Like you we are having the hallway and stairs decorated and flooring/carpets before I can put in a stair lift. So your post came at the right time . Thank you xx
You certainly did get a good deal, ours cost over £4,000 but we do have 2 bends in the stairs. However it's something you can't really put a value on - ours has been in use now for 3 months and it has given Stuart some quality of life back. After 6 weeks in hospital at the beginning of the year he is so breathless he can only just about manage the few steps to get to the bathroom and stairs would be impossible for him to climb. Our downstairs is open-plan and we didn't want him in a bed in the living area. Social workers told us "upstairs living" is quite acceptable these days!! I think that is an absolute disgrace and no way were we having that. How would Stuart be able to get to the doctors, hospital appointments or have access to any sort of social life? All they want to do is shove you out to fend for yourselves. Anyway now, with the stair lift, he can come downstairs and have a life. Now the weather is warmer I can take him out, even though he has to be in a wheelchair with the oxygen bottle. I thank God I am reasonably fit and can cope with it all, and we can both have some sort of life together again, albeit somewhat limited to the days he feels well enough. At the end of the day, if you do have any money, when you get to our age (late 70's) you might just as well spend it! Certainly when it has such an enormous impact on your life. Good luck Kim - you certainly won't regret spending that money.
