Does anyone here have RTE? There's a lung transplant surgeon from Ireland talking about the new method for flushing out lungs prior to transplantation
Rte tonight : Does anyone here have RTE... - Lung Conditions C...
Rte tonight
The do that with warm
Water when nothing will get rid of infections .. Quite palative really think thats where bush got idea for water boarding from.
What's RTE? x
Yes, I'm tuned in waiting to watch it. All dressed up for the occasion with my IV and Oxy on.
Did you watch? They didn't give much info
I watched it all. I think for someone your age, the prospects are improving and the surgery seems to be improving and refining. What did you think ?
I think it was interesting but they didn't really go into all the downsides of a transplant which I wished they had as my family and friends throw up transplant as if it's as easy as getting your hair cut! I liked the doctor which is good. She seems lovely and she's aware of my case
Well obviously, it's a massive decision to take and anyone who takes the trouble to inform themselves can read up about the lifetime of anti-rejection drugs, the ongoing need to avoid infection and other restrictions. I think that that programme wasn't the place for highlighting negatives, as the drive is to get more donors.
If and when you have to face this decision, you can explore every aspect of the process. But I think if I were you, I'd be glad that the option is there.
I'm never going to have tat option and continue to fight to save my remaining lung from vanishing under scar tissue. Been in hospital now 5 days and unlike the last admission, seen to be getting results. So that's positive and I've switched to being optimistic again. The spirit is a very resilient force.
How have you been ? Good, bad, stable ?
True. Ireland isn't great for donors. Wish they'd bring in that opt out system.
I'm so sorry you're in hospital. Thank god you're getting some results. I'm ok, haven't been great. Had a bad chest infection most of February and I was only once it a week and I came down with tracheitis and laryngitis. Tracheitis is still really bad despite antibiotics snd I've lung function tests tomorrow so I'm dreading them with this shortness of breath. In for thyroid surgery on Thursday so hoping no pneumonia afterwards as they told me I'm high risk. Just gotta take it one day at a time I guess. Xxx
Oh God yes, the dreaded PFTs. Hope you get through it okay. I'm feeling much less breathless today and feel that the antibiotics might finally be hitting the Achromabacter. We'll get there in the end with a lot of patience and determination. My fingers and toes are crossed for you.
