Hi I suffer with asthma and copd too. I take symbicort (just been changed to a cheaper generic version), Spiriva and the blue ventolin inhaler.
Your lung fuction at 83% is very good which is why you don't always need the meds. I am around 10 points lower and do need my meds. I hope you stay at that level. x
Hi bradders123,
lungs around 56% using symbacort, salbutamol & tiotropium. Hate taking them and have to confess that sometimes I do miss the odd day but never more than one a week (whoops!).
Never feels like they do anything for me but, when I had an exacerbation I suddenly realised that I really DID need to take them regularly! So they do work - it just doesn't feel like it most of the time.
Hi bradders my lung capacity is 38% I take Bricanyl (like ventolin) Spiriva and Symbicort without my needs I wouldn't be able to do anything. Your lung capacity is good hope it stays that way.
Hi bradders,
As regards asthma which can be tackled with an inhaler, but not COPD generally, you can get the effect of an inhaler/puffer by pressing against a point between the nose and the upper lip. The harder you press the deeper you can breathe. Breathing through the nose with a stiff upper lip trains away asthma. If you do pursed lips breathing as an exercise, keep the lips firmly pressed together and breathe through the nose, not the mouth. This opens up your chest by reflex.
