Hi I am so sorry you are going through this. I don't know anything about strokes I'm afraid but there must be a heart site on HU. They might have better answers on there. Wishing you all the best. x
Or try the British Heart Foundation. x
Like, coughalot I have no experience of strokes and so no advice to offer. It must have been terrifying. Try here for further help:

Good luck.
Oh wow I've never heard of it.
So u just woke up blind?
No pain before? No symptoms?
Three years ago I had the same thing happen. I was told that I needed an injection in my eye to stop my eye sight from becoming worse. The injection was not as bad as I thought it would be your eye is numb and you do not see the needle coming towards you. However I was told that my eyesight would not improve. three years later I have my sight back there are a few patches that are misty but I never notice these unless I am really tried. I have been told that I now only have to attend the eye clinic once a year. I hope this helps. good luck
My advice for is not to give up on getting your eye site back like purplehaze22 says. As it has happen to her just do not give up
A very dear blf member had a similar experience she just suddenly lost some of the sight in one of her eyes , then it came back...she was told she had a small stroke ....Please see your gp as soon as you can so they can investigate
My sister has not had two episodes like this so gas had lots of tests, she has been prescribed statins, a drug which I can't remember the name for her colesterol and Mir scan , they classed the episodes as Tia (mini strokes). Healthy diet is a big factor
Yes this is quite a rare condition - it's caused by retinal artery occlusion. Sadly there's nothing to be done for your right eye now: any treatment to restore sight must be given in the first hour or two (some possible benefit up to 12 hours).
The main thing now is to minimise the risk of something similar happening again. This means:
1) Checking you don't have temporal arteritis - the hospital should have done this already but if in doubt, and especially if you have polymyalgia (aching shoulder muscles, worse in the morning) see an eye specialist immediately.
2) If you are smoking - STOP completely.
3) Take anti-platelet medication: aspirin / clopidogrel
4) Start statin treatment (the condition is usually atheroma-related)
5) Treat any hypertension with an ACE inhibitor or similar drug
6) The usual stuff: healthy diet, regular exercise etc.
scary
I found out at an annual eye check that ihad had a clot in avein in the eye (venal occlusion) losing some sight in the centre. It was due to loads of stress which hade made my blood pressure ver high.. I have to keep myblood pressure, stress levels under control I had laser work on eye to stop bleeding. I am sure they said that was not classedas stroke. What followup consultation are you having? I hope you are seeing a consltant to explain more fully what happened exactly and what you must do so not to have a repeat. Good luck.kaye
I am 68 with severe COPD and Mild Emphysema and 18 months ago I lost the sight in my left eye for 15 minutes. I visited Dorchester eye hospital thinking a torn retina was the cause but on examination was told to visit the stroke unit next door!! I had suffered a mini stroke and tests showed I suffer from Atrial Fibrillation making me high risk of a serious stroke. Its meant that I take more pills every morning in addition to the medication for my COPD.
See it as a warning and take care of yourself and try not to worry.
Try the Stroke Foundation Romolo. They are the experts on all aspects of stroke illness and will be able to advise you. They have a very comprehensive site on the internet.
Best wishes
