Hi Jacko 72..

You put your post on when most people in the U.K. would be sleeping or trying to sleep.

So don't worry if the replys to your post are few for the next 7/8 hours. It's only 3am there.

You will get lots of support and advice from people who really do know what they are talking about.

It would help if you said what lung conditions you are suffering from.

Sorry I can be any help to you as I was asking the same thing as you a week ago.

Take care.

Andyxx.

You are very welcome. I think you will be able to understand it and you can always pause and playback as well.. Blessings to you.

Hi, you need to get it confirmed by consultant but it looks like emphysema.

Low fev1 of 43% cut off 80%.

Increased tlc and rv the rv 277% indicates air trapping.

The kco or dclo in the uk of 50% indicates decreased gas transfer of the alveoli.

These results seem to indicate obstructive disease. Thd reduced kco seperates emphysema from chronic bronchitis or possibly asthma if that was considered. Did your specialist not indicate his findings.

Hi ponkmonster

Thanks for your reply. I no I have severe emphysema but don't have any knowledge of what the numbers mean on the test results I showed you. I have now looked at a video which explains some of my questions ,which I was kindly given the link off another lady called ruby on here. I just wasn't sure whether I was any better or worse. My consultant is often very pushed for time when I go to see him. I'm not sure I would of understood if he had tryed to explain it to me anyway. Thanks again

Welcome to the site Jacko

Hope we can help you out with any questions you may have. Looks like you have severe copd with overinflated

lungs. Pretty much what Punkmonster said. One thing I'm not clear on; for your fev 1--you blew 43? That being 19% of what you should have blown? Maybe you could fill us in more on how your feeling , so we could help you more.

Rubyxx 😊

On my print out from the doctor with these figures on it should tell you what stage I.e mild, moderate or severe mine does anyway. I hope this helps. I had to look hard but I found it. Take care. I always go on how I feel, i can have good O2 reading but feeling awful. Take care x

Search for "What are the names of the lung volumes that can be measured?". It will be on the WebMD response - its American.
