Good morning...personally I was up well before the alarm & the heating this morning but such is life! I wouldn't care but I don't even have to go to work today. God can be a right git sometimes :D

Yes I have been awake since about 5.30 too. It is funny when I was taking my antibiotics and had to space them out had to set the alarm for 6 and was always fast asleep when it went off. For the last week I have been waking well before 6. I am beginning to wonder if something is waking me up. A noise from outside or something but when I wake everything is quiet - as it should be. Thought it could have been my other half but he has been away for 2 nights back this afternoon. Find I am waking early even if I have gone to sleep late. So it must be me! Don't want to blame God he/she has enough to try and sort out.

Think the weather is good today so if my heel feels a little better after the verruca zapping may go for a walk and take a break from housework.

Morning freefaller, you sound very cheerful!

I weaning myself off the steroids so now have a headache which has kept me awake...moan moan.

Still I managed to start cleaning out the garden pond yesterday.....mud and sludge everywhere, now I have to finish the job without the steroid high. And avoiding the wasps nest after my last encounter...still got sore stings.

Enjoy your day

Morning

Glad you had a good night....Mine was cr#p.

Mr V has to sleep on his back after his op....hence he snores for England...if snoring was in the Olympics, he would get the gold medal with a new world record !!!!

I cannot go in the spare bedroom as I have to help him on his numerous trips to the loo.......I managed to drift off about 4.30 am only to be woke up 10 minutes later by a large bang...He had fallen out of bed !!!!!

Luckily he was ok, but after that I couldn't sleep.

So no, I don't feel refreshed.....but I am ready for what the day will bring !!

Hi velvet, sorry about your disturbed night.....can you contact the Red Cross or social services or your gp's surgery for some practical aids, such as a bed guard, and urine bottles for your husband.

Take care of yourself

Hi Knitter thank you for your suggestion..but...

I phoned the red cross yesterday to see if they could help me out with a frame with a raised toilet seat...I have one but Mr V uses the downstairs toilet in the day and the upstairs one at night. I explained to the lady that I have copd and asthma, and was struggling to keep carrying it up and down the stairs ( it's bad enough getting myself up and down, let alone carrying a large piece of equipment )

Her very unhelpful reply, was no we can't as it is only a temporary condition. I explained again the impact it was having on my health, and also, when Mr V recovers from this operation, he will be having the other hip done....so I will be wanting one for a good few months.. her answer was still no....so as far as I am Concerned the Red Cross can go and stu#f themselves in their future fund raising campaigns, if they cannot help two people in need in the UK.

I rang the occupational therapist at the hospital who dealt with Mr V after his op, explained the situation, what a difference, no problem Mrs Velvet I will arrange for one to be delivered tomorrow...Three cheers for the wonderful NHS.

I am glad you are getting help from the NHS, sorry about the Red Cross though.

Best wishes to you both

Well now you have two that is fine. Can't believe the Red Cross couldn't be more helpful. They were brilliant with my other half's Mum and Dad. We got all sorts from them no questions asked.

They were great when my mum was terminaly ill.

They said as Mr V condition is only temporary they couldn',t help, l even informed them that l have COPD and Asthma and was finding it was hard to keep changning from up to down stairs toi!et

We got stuff for my partner's Dad off them when he had his hip replaced and they just didn't ask questions. As it happens we didn't give it back to them until they both died because they found e this useful afterwards. By the way. A friend of ours who is waiting on his second hip replacement gave us a tip about getting in and out of bed. In the beginning when it is hard to pick your leg up keeping it straight and get into bed get in from the bottom so you can shuffle up the bed so you don't have to move the leg side ways. We didn't do that as at the time my other half was quite fit. If he ever gets the other hip done I think that is the way to go. Thankfully since the one hip has been done no more damage has been done to the other one and on X-Ray 5 years later th other hip looks just the same. Had he had to wait longer I think he would have had to have the other hip done by now.

Also our NHS Hospital used to bring things like that around to the house for you to use - don't know if that still happens though but the brought a commode and a toilet seat around for our neighbour a few years ago. Anyway, there has probably been numerous changes of policy since then. Hope you are managing OK and that Mr V isn't finding things too difficult. He must do his exercises as much as possible and do just what his physio tells him.

All the best.

Love and hugs

Hi Sian

Thank you for your replies and " helpful tips ".

Glad to hear Mr Velvet is OK after falling out of bed. That must have been a shock for you. Hope you can manage to have a little rest during the day. It is really hard looking after someone. Last time my other half had a hip replacement about 5 years ago and honestly by the time we had gone through his exercises, had breakfast made the bed the. Got him washed it was 11 o'clock or later and I probably hadn't got washed or dressed myself!

Love to you both

Hello Sian

You are right it is very hard work as they are so helpless, and in pain.

Today it was getting on for 12 o'clock when l had done everything and I was still in my Jim jams !!!

Cheered him up though...l loaded him in the car and took him to a nice country pub for lunch and he had his 1st pint for a week !!

Both of us had a lovely nap when we got home.

He is doing really well and luckily no damage was done to his new hip when he fell out of bed last night.

Love
