So very tired

Have had lung infection . Also asthma and COPD. Steroids have knocked me out . Not getting back on my feet as energy seems to have left me. Had antibiotics as well but feeling really poorly. Does anyone else feel wiped out while on steroids?

Yes, I feel at moment as if steam roller has gone over me!. I think it is quite common to feel this way after lung inf , ABs and steroids. A violent bout of Irritable bowel has just finished a not so wonderful birthday. Still at least managed to enjoy meal at pub we stayed at first. Kaye

Yes I think what you're feeling is perfectly normal. It will take a good few days after finishing treatment for infection for you to feel better. Just rest, eat well & get enough sleep & you'll soon be back to normal. Take care 😀

Thanks Jessie and kathiesue, so good to know I'm not alone feeling awful. Usually optimistic but this one has been a real dilly.

Oh yes. I feel poisoned during and after steroids. Finished abs on Friday but cannot attemp anything yet. I've learnt my lessons in not overdoing it before you're well & truly on the mend. Hope you feel better soon but do please take it easy. P

Thanks so much. Think I've been trying too hard. Tough having COPD when I ve never smoked or worked in a bad environment. Muste genetic.

I'm on steroids since July. Down to 10mg a day and I'm in absolute bits. My whole body is in agony which my GP tells me I can expect. Was on abs for 6 weeks, 2 week break then on again for a week. I feel like I could happily lie down and sleep for years.

I've been going to a herbalist and he's given me licourice to take. It's a natural steroid to try to counteract the pain. It's definitely taken the edge off! Maybe something like that might help?

I am very fortunate in being able to go to a purpose-built respiratory unit where all the staff are specialists... and patients are told that it will take at _least_ six weeks for them to start pulling round and feeling more "normal" following a chest infection and a course of antibiotics/steroids. I think that you may need to slow down, lower your expectations and recover!!
