Emphysema . Advice please.

Am seeing two different doctors tomorrow both are specialists in ear..nose and throat.

irrigating my nose for one week now with one litre of saline solution a day. And spraying twice a with Avamys has done nothing to relieve blocked. . Burning..itchy and hard to breath through nose.

In general breathing is hard and I am concerned as to why.

Trying to communicate with that fffing am better then you chest doctor... well I've talked about that already.

I don't need a C T scan for my condition he say..I have 72% lung capacity and say that only mild copd. Remember folks 3 months I was about 50% lung capacity...and I stopped smoking. ..

Am sorry if am boring anyone who might read this ... but I do a lot of writing like this and hardly ever post it.

It's more for really me to keep my brain busy.

On Sunday I get the results for the blood tests that I asked for...I asked them to do blood tests for everything that you can do blood tests for....

and am staying off the antibiotics so next week they can start checking as to what allergies I could have.

any additional advice would be gratefully received.

Have you ever noticed that it's a mad..mad world. If the antibiotics don't clear the infection in my nostrils then she going to do surgery and make the nostrils bigger. ..what.

The other one wanted to put a machine on me when I was sleeping to check if I was getting enough oxygen in my blood when I was asleep.

Ask me if knew. No I don't. ..how would I know that...but if the oxygen in my blood is a 99 to 100% during the day...then why..

I said don't want this test sorry. And left.

It's a mad..mad world.

Hi Andy,

I feel your frustration. Regarding your COPD: seems mild as FEV1 of 80% would be considered normal so your lungs should not be causing you too much trouble at present and that you have stopped smoking will hopefully slow or stop the COPD. Your lifestyle from what you have written also sounds pretty good in terms of getting good food, sunshine, relaxation, happiness etc.

You may want to consider getting your shoulder fixed.....

Regarding the nostrils: I had this issue: I used the nasal rinse for probably daily for 2 months. And used the Avamys once daily (so other part of the day so not to wash it out with the nasal rinse) with 2 sprays per nostril. Also took several quite strong course of antibiotics and my nostrils finally completely cleared. I stopped nasal rinsing but I still using the Avamys once a day 1 spray per nostril. No more antibiotics. I always do the nasal irringation again when I feel a cold coming or if I have been in a dusty environment and feel my nose blocked.

Good luck with your appointment- I would not agree to the nasal operation yet. .... and congrats on the baby girl...... and yes I would be getting that shoulder fixed as you are likely to live for a long time yet.....Best wishesxxx

Jenss. . I can't thank you enough for taking the time to write to me it has actually lifted my sprite up reading what you wrote.

I have taken all on board. ...and will do.

I know I have to do the on operation on my shoulder soon and this the first thing I will do once this problem with my nose is resolved .

FEV1 is 72.8...up from 3 months ago when I stopped smoking. .I was told then it was about 50.
