Hi Paper man I have been using Tiotropium (Spiriva) for a number of years. So far I do not have any issues but I am very aware that prostate problems are a possible side effect. It is something that I am concerned about but so far I have convinced myself and my GP that my retention problem is due to my morphine dosage.
sorry to hear about your problem i have stage3 copd.i had surgery on my prostate 10 years ago and i take the same medicine , surgary is ok ,its the time taking the tests etc if you do have to have the surgery tell not to take away to much prostate because it will leave you impotent.
Hubby has this problem and takes this medicine, didn't realise it could have been the meds that caused it. He has been to the hospital and now takes an additional two tablets for the problem, they have sort of helped but he still gets up 2-3 times a night
I was getting up anything from 5-10 times during the night I have a convean. Catheter I use for bed times so I do not get disturbed sleep very good worth enquiring about good luck
I used to be prescribed this, however,my nurse changed it to SEEBRI (Seebri Breezhaler 44mcg[=55mcg] caps that are punctured in a similar way.I was wondering why,but presumed that this medication was better or similar thoughts.
Hi, Pete does not use Spiriva but does have COPD and has an enlarged prostate. At the moment he is doing well but has had 3 TURPs ops in the past plus one bladder neck incision. He also has sarcoidosis so have no idea if this has contributed to his prostate symptoms. xx
