Bit of a fun statement

I've seen it before. I suppose you could oimprove on that. Let's have the start of it first.

As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to

"make a difference"in the world.

It is at these times that our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of other "seniors" who have found the courage to take on challenges that would make many of us wither.

Harold Schlumberg is such a person:

HAROLD SAYS: "I've often been asked,

'What do you do now that you're retired?

'Well...I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background and one of the things I enjoy most is converting beer, wine and whiskey into urine. It's rewarding, uplifting, satisfying and fulfilling. I do it every day and I really enjoy it."

Harold is an inspiration to us all.

Yup. I agree Argana. I often wonder if the people who post these jokes would walk into a roomful of say Polish people and repeat a Polish joke, a room full of Irish and tell an Irish joke, etc.,... very much doubt it and therein lies the answer.

Take care.

Hi mic, Had to read it twice as thought that's the wrong way round then I got the joke eventually, had a blonde moment lol, xx Sonia xxx

Nanaeal,Thank you for enquiring. This morning I took the last of my antibiotics. I've been sweating during the last 2 nights. Was it because I had too much duvet, my hat and scarf on? I hope it's not an indication of something.

I feel very well indeed. No cough, breathe easy.

I was very excited today, because I had my first lesson with my teacher. she is very sweet. I follow the Trevor wye method which is very intuitive. My teacher, Christine, told me that Trevor wye was from Canterbury where he taught and still does good work. I was very pleased to learn it.

I managed to produce sounds, some beautiful, some rather disastrously airy! Christine is a quick worker and gave me a lot of little tunes to practice for next week. I must polish this up for her, as I like to please ( hopefully will please myself too).

I'm also doing some lifting exercises to be able to bear the weight of the flute.

I also bought a box set of CDs called "james Galway plays flute concertos, for fairly cheap. 12 CDs cover a huge musical period: from Bach to Nielsen; so pleasant to listen to a brilliant flautist. Flute is fo standing! So I am glad to sit down a bit! Cheers, Mic

True !

Really wonderful, the joke and you! I can see you mastering the flute in no time at all, I remember being facinated by Jethro Tull playing the flute on top of the pops on one leg and wearing a codpiece, I still love that tune 'Living in the Past' !! ;) hugs huff xxxx

Hey Huff, I never knew this tune and him. I watch a 1969 version on YouTube.

Here it is: youtube.com/watch?v=EsCyC1d...

I really like that style. My music was that of Liverpool in the 70's where I lived and studied (not the flute, then!)

Hello Helingmic! thank you so much! I really enjoyed listening, I think its a very happy song :D Having lived in Liverpool in the past.. ( ;) ) do you like the Beatles? What were you studying then? hugs huff xxx

Hahaha! Schlumberg and his whisky to pee!

I was right in the Beatles. There were a lot of groupies performing in Liverpool and Birkenhead. I played the concert piano in the concert hall ( on my own, not for anybody else, although there were some friends who came to listen or to show what they could do.) Fun time.

What I studied? French literature and its culture , as well as Italian literature. For my last years, I concentrated on the Renaissance, a fascinating period, but already so many wars of so called religions! Hope you are really well, Mic
