Great article post .. breath of fresh air for lung diease suffers
That's interesting, thanks for posting it.
Thanks for the link Sohara, it does sound very hopeful for certain illnesses in the future. However people trials could alter the outcome if there are to many side effects. Could be a few years before it is prescribed to patients but fingers crossed it works.
Very interesting and sounds hopeful Sohara. Something is desperately needed to combat the antibiotic-resistant bacteria we seem to have brought upon ourselves by the overuse. I'm lucky in that I haven't had to use antibiotics other than the Azitromycin 250 three times a week for almost a year. I dread if I do get an infection in case it's the resistant type but that's the odds. Thanks for the link.
I am on the Azithromycin 3 times a week too Butterfly.... mostly immune to most of the other AB's...but then again I have been using antibiotics since they were first issued by the NHS...so have done well.
The next step for me once the Azi no longer works is IV antibiotics...and so new ab's cannot come soon enough
There were enough danger warnings about Azithromycin and the side affects are so bad that many can not use it...but thankfully I am OK on it..its truly a miracle dug for me
Thank you Sohara, it is interesting. The article said that the new antibiotic teixobactin could only treat gram positive bacteria, I am guessing that would treat strep pneumonia which is good news, unfortunately many of the pesky pests like haemophilus, pseudomonas aeruginosa and aureus are all gram negative and they are the most common problem to those of us with bronchiectasis. I have had them all but I mostly treat my infections now naturally, it has me taken years to understand and build up to it.
Antibiotics are very useful, they have saved my life in the past and I would use them again if I had to, it is a great article, hopeful.
Thanks for the post Sohara it gives hope to so many of us. Sorry I've sent 2 replies, got myself muddled as to who I was replying too!!Age thing I expect. barnowl
Hiya flibberty, yes that's it, all excited then bump! but we never give up do we...
