Latest research and treatments?

Good morning everyone.

As someone that lives with a COPD sufferer, has anyone heard of the latest research or new treatments coming in for those that suffer from this horrible illness?

Implanting coils is the most recent treatment I know about.

That sounds really promising. Mum's 72 so I guess she wouldn't be considered.

I e-mailed Dr William McNulty but received a reply from Dr Pallav Shah he said he would quite happily see me if my GP or consultant referred me, and would like a copy of lastest CT and lung function forwarded to him. The trials are over but they hope to offer this treatment in a year or two so worth asking. [e-mail]

As it's not invasive so I don't see why not. Just my opinion though.

The procedure of Lung volume reduction coils look really great for the COPD patients . It sounds feasible , economical and success rate seems to be highest . But will it be available to patients like me in India ? Will someone let me have the e-mail address of Dr Pallav Shah ? Would like to contact him !
