Hi everyone, I'm new to this, was jus... - Lung Conditions C...
Hi everyone, I'm new to this, was just wondering if anyone else has been assessed for lung transplant if so could they give me some info.
Hi Caz,
I have been through the transplant assessment procedure and may be of some help.
Step 1, consultant refers you to transplant team and it takes around 3 months before they see you
Step 2, in the mean time your hospital can do some tests, I had an angiogram, a bone density scan, full respiratory, 24 hour urine check. 6 minute walk test.
Step 3, Ist 1 day visit to transplant hospital for stage 1 assessment, chest x ray, blood tests, 6 minute walk test, another full respiratory spirometry, talk to transplant consultant.
step 4, 4 day inpatient stay at the transplant hospital. Lots of different types of scans, more blood tests, another 24 hour urine test, another 6 minute walk test, an invasive heart pressures test, talk to transplant co-ordinator and consultant.
Step 5, wait for phone call to hear if you have been excepted and confirmation you are live on the list.
Step 6. Return to see transplant co-ordinator every 3 months for chest x ray, 6 minute walk test, bloods, and talk with consultant.
I think that's about all. Good luck Caz
Tony
hiya caz i cant only agree with tony x my hubby just been put on active list he started his journey 2012 . good luck x tony have you had your transplant ?
Hi Chris, I've been on the list just over 12 months now but due to an abscess removal operation I'm suspended until I see the transplant team on June 10th when I should get back on.
In the 12 months I've had 1 call which was followed shortly by another call to say the lungs were not a match so the wait goes on.
Tony x
