Apparently I have @ 55% lung function... - Lung Conditions C...
Apparently I have @ 55% lung function and described as moderate, anyone else on here with similar?, & how does it affect you?..
Hi my lung function last time was 66.7 so a bit higher than yours. I find I get breathless doing things too fast now and have to slow down a bit. I find hills and steps a problem and avoid them whenever I can. The weather plays a part too - when it's low air pressure I feel more sob. On the plus side I can walk downhill ok and quite a long way on the flat but in my own time. I can't keep up with others of my age and no longer try to. There are many on here with much worse lung function who adapt and find ways to cope. I am very grateful not to be as severe as them and count my blessings. To sum up I can do virtually anything I used to do just a bit less of them and quite a big slower. I get very tired if I overdo it and sleep for England. x
Lol, thanks for that Coughalot, similar!.. Baz x
how do you know the exact figures for lung function? Will a normal lung function test tell you that?
Im 52% and struggle every day, walking is my main issue, get very breathless, I have had 4 lots of antibiotics and 2 lots of steroids since Christmas, the damp weather seems to make mine worse
Thanks for reply jovi_lady, I'm just trying to gauge my own level with others, yes I'm very similar to what you describe, in fact supposed to be away next weekend but I've seen the weather forecast & it's turning colder again, sat in a caravan with a gas fire 24/7 is not really going to do me any good!. There's a local pub just up the lane from the site @ 10min walk uphill, walked up to it Easter weekend, felt like I'd just ran a marathon!...needed that pint!!....lol
I remember that time well I now have the lung capacity of a 87 year old im severe level 4 I get breathless after taking a few steps I have become very light headed I now avoid people with the flu and don't go in to crowed shopping centres.
My lung function is 48% and I get out of breath quite easily. I still do things it just takes more time. I find walking up stairs and hills a problem. Cold air also makes it worse.
Regards
Patty
