Not a health question in the true sense of the word.

My son bought me a Nutri-bullet extractor as I don't eat fruit but can drink a juice. I can and do eat lots of vegetables. It takes vegetables nuts fruit and leaves it all ready to drink. My Husband has spent the last week telling me it will do no good as you have to actually eat the fruit for the goodness. Keeps walking around saying waste of money. Can anyone tell me if it does any good to drink it. I would love to give him a polite answer to the usual shut up.

Hi Suzy6

Found this answer on Inside Tracker (athletes website) which may help

When you make juice, you’re extracting the pulp of vegetables and fruits, leaving behind a juice in a smooth liquid state. Conversely, blending is just simply combining all the ingredients that you place in your blender, which results in a smoothie that contains all the pulp, fiber, liquid, and nutrients. Smoothies are much heavier than juices, so they also keep you fuller for longer. Whole foods can be difficult to chew and some vegetables don’t taste good when they are consumed raw—blending your fruits and vegetables can solve this problem!

So juicing not as good blending and blending same as chewing!

Thanks Rozi,Interesting. I think this must be something like blending as it leaves no pulp and you can drink it out of the cup it is made in.

The difference between juicing and blending. This is on a Nutri-bullet blog with some comments made by other people.

Although, as it says in your title, it's not a juicer or blender. It's an extractor ! :)

There's a review here that says it keeps all the nutrients. Show your hubby the link ! :)

" What is the Nutribullet NBR-12?

Hailed as being able to create superfoods out of ordinary foods, the Nutribullet is not a blender or a juicer, but an extractor. It has been designed to access the hidden nutrition by pulverizing ingredients into their most nutritious and digestible form.

Why is it so important to access all of the nutrients?

Nutrients are essential to our diet in order to fight and prevent disease, keep a healthy weight, keep joints supple, encourage healthy skin, hair and nails and assist with sleep and mood. Extracted food from the Nutribullet gives us the food in its most absorptive state, going straight into our bodies. "

Thank you. Ideal, appreciated. Will show him the links when he has settled down this evening. That should shut him up politely.

I have same equipment. Used it for years. You are still getting whole fruit just in different form. I have banana and milk smoothies. Yum. Sometimes add blackberries when in season. Very easy to use and easy to clean.

Great reply plus link from Puff. It does sound great.

What a thoughtful son you have. (The only thing missing for me though would be the fibre).

The fibre is blended in the process as well.

The fibre is so important a part of fruit or veg.. The various programs that have been on the radio and tv lately, due to the idea of eating five portions a day not being enough.....all of them said that pulped, smoothied or blender fruit or veg are actually harmful as putting the natural sugars and minerals under pressure, changes their state. Fruit smoothies are more fattening that a supermilk milk shakes.....but if that is the only way you can eat them....carry on but they are loosing their benefits.

Thank you all for your comments. Appreciated. I will use it daily, at the moment, as I don't eat any fruit at all. Will ask Dr or Nurse when I next see them Still waiting for Rehab appointment when I go will ask Dietician.
