Hi

COPD stands for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This is the name used to describe a number of conditions including emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

COPD is just an umbrella term.

Same thing made confusing by name lol

Hi lockjean, speaking from experience COPD is often used as an umbrella term, however COPD is supposed to be chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The letters stand for what stone says in the reply. It's very confusing for newly diagnosed patients, but BLF have some good leaflets about the illness which you can order on line.
