Welcome harkysparky, if you scroll down the page a little on the page link below, its explains all the abbreviations :

patient.co.uk/doctor/spirom...

Also try to remain active as this is so important to slow down the progress of the disease. Many people with an even lower Ratio % are still enjoying life living with COPD.

Two main things that will help you the most are a pulmonary rehabilitation course, referral through your GP or consultant :

healthunlocked.com/blf/post...

and if you are still smoking try to stop as soon as possible to help preserve lung health and health generally.

Best wishes BC

Welcome Sparky, I can only echo what BC says about exercise and getting on a PR (pulmonary rehab) course ASAP, it will give you the tools to manage the copd. Eat well, keep your weight to a healthy level and to build a good immune system to fight infections. All the best, peeg

Welcome from me as well!

My advice is to follow the advice above and try to get out of breathe at least once a day to give the tubes a work out.

Stay tuned, it's always good on here X

Hi sparky, a warm welcome to our group. Blakey C has a very good piece of advice.and also those who say that exercises is good. Any kind, as long as it is some. It's pretty cold out, so perhaps reserve the long walks outside for the Spring.

I put in Google, exercises for COPD sufferers, there are YOu Tube videos on the subject. I bought one book that made amazing claimes to exercises without weight: the miracle seven. these were 7 exercises that would tone your muscles. The other is probsably a fitness instructor and he has got big biceps. So I would take wht he says with a pinch of salt. but the exercises he describe are good. You can perform them at home, in front of a mirror. I did this for quite some time when I had been very ill. Eventually, this inspired me to go back to the gym! Eventually, the idea is to keep your muscles fit and your breathing. Explore the subject, there are some inspiring exercises on the internet to suit you to a T!
