Well, I am still no nearer to a diagnosis. I have had all the usual tests for IPF in May of this year. CT scan, Pulmonary function test and chest x ray. I had these done as a CXR showed a characteristic pattern on the lungs earlier in the year. Everything came back as OK and was given a steroid inhaler to see if things would improve by the respiratory cons. I then went on to contract pneumonia and pleurisy in August. I had the usual 6 week CXR after I was discharged. Saw the respiratory cons last week and he has told me, my lungs are worse and has booked urgent tests as above but with a bronchoscopy as well, yikes! all going a bit fast.
I still feel that Pleurisy is hanging about as have the pleurisy pain in the left lung. Do you get pain with IPF? I don't know. Be very interested to know if anyone else has had this diagnosis has she hasn't she prob.
Thanks.
All keep well.

A would think you do i have pain in my lungs .. Some say its muscal pain others say its pleurisy or could be mucus plugs balls... etc etc
But i find when i use inhaler it not as bad BUT over uses of inhalers makes my lung feel raw a burning pain.
Hope that helps all the best
Hi caz59, Just here with a bit of advice. If you have a bronchoscopy don't have it without medication. I was persuaded to have it without and didn't like the experience at all!! Ended up with a collapsed lung too. Go for the easy option. Good luck, Popplewell
Thanks for replies. Popplewell, I have just read the leaflet as to what they do and yes, I will be having the sedation, I aint that brave lol! got to be there for 8am.
Hi Caz59. My Husband has IPF and yes he does on the rare occasion get pain in his chest but we put it down to angina. With pleurisy you do get pain until it is cleared up. Have a word with your Dr if you are worried as he can listen to it.
