Hi, Funny you should say that - my husband had his flu jab on Wednesday and hasn't felt very well since. My husband is always the same when he has an "exacerbation" - the sleep deprivation. It makes you feel so tired when you are woken up by coughing and wheezing. There are a few things that sometimes help - he has a nebuliser at home (he was given that by the hospital the only time he was admitted) but if he uses that before he goes to bed with salbutamol and then with the saline solution it helps. Also a tip that helped was vicks on the soles of his feet - honest it helped! He also uses buttercup syrup which sometimes helps. He has to prop himself up in bed because if he is bad he cant sleep flat. Oh and he did use rescue night remedy which seemed to help. AND the last thing - I insisted he had manuka honey about five times a day in a little hot water and I am sure that helped. Good Luck and I wish you the speediest recovery. Take care, with love TAD xx

My word Tad what a couple of similar stories we are, I'm great believer in buttercup syrup and Vic also however I have never tried Vic on the soles of my feet. I have had the paramedics here but so far have managed to stay out of hospital (my choice) because I am my wife's carer who suffers Alzheimer's I am seeing the doctor on Monday and it is my intention to purchase a nebuliser if he will supply prescriptions for the drugs and saline. I have gone two weeks now without proper sleep it makes being a carer extremely difficult take care yourself and thank you for the sound advice

with love Steve xx

Hi, have you been back to see your gp after your course of pills...maybe you need some more to help with the cough and wheezing?

I have just been for my flu jab but there was nowhere to park....cars everywhere...so I will have to try again later.

Best wishes

Hi hondabike 3,

Sorry I don't believe in the flu jab, have read too much negative stuff. Hope you are feeling a bit better by now. I keep hearing about manuka honey.....will check out amazon for the cost as heard you can get the best stuff on there reasonable. It is awful you don't get any sleep. I take kilkoff lozenges and also menthol and eucalyptus sweets by Jamiesons. They help to clear the airways, and may stop you coughing for a while....they are maybe worth a try?? I also use a vick inhaler...lol

Hi naturelover, run through a few of the bad points that you have heard about the flu jab would you, was wondering if to get it this year, will be first time, but dont want to make myself worse. Thanks Malk
