Another beautiful day not wasted.

I decided to walk the road where I spent the first 25 years of my life, I started at my Dads house and headed up the hill as I have done a few times since falling ill but this time I was going to the top where I could take a drink of Malvern water from the old spring. (see pic)

I took my trusty old digital camera along in case I saw anything interesting along the way and it turned out I did. I was snap happy, with the sun and blue sky everything was looking good. The old houses along the way, the trees, flowers and wildlife were all looking at there very best.

I slowly made my way up the windy old country lane taking in the beauty that was all around and completely forgot about my health problems even though I had my oxygen pack on my back, running at 8 litres but then Its like its a part of me now. I took pics of the lovely houses and views along the route and then a surprise was sat in some open tree roots right in front of me, it was a nuthatch or the upside down bird, it was close and too busy hunting for food to be bothered with me so snap I got it then it was only a little further on up the quiet road and I was snapping again. There was a blackberry bush covered in some unusual butterflies bathing in the sun. They were right next to a memorial seat so I took advantage and sat down for a while and shared the same sunlight and quiet moment that was attracting them.

I was now ready to face the steepest part of my climb to the top so it was head down and concentrate on the breathing time. One foot in front of the other and a steady pace and before I knew it the torture was over and the road returned to the more gentle climb up to the Malvern water spring. I arrived puffing a little in the knowledge that the return journey was gravity assisted so I was feeling pretty good.

Now years ago this Malvern water spring was used to water the horses that passed this way and for many years was forgotten by all except the locals but now there are cue's of people bottling the water and taking it home so its not easy to jump the cue for a quick drink. Anyway I chanced my arm and asked the couple who were collecting their water if I could grab a quick drink and be on my way. They were very obliging I'm pleased to say, after that walk up the hill that clear cold water tasted so much better than anything that comes from the tap and revived me ready for the return downhill journey back to Dads.

Half way back, while trying to snap a Robin that just wouldn't sit still there was a loud buzzing around me, Wow it was a Hornet, I havn't seen one of those for a while especially that close but it wasn't looking for trouble and just flew up into a large hole in a nearby tree. I wondered if there was a nest in there but I didn't hang around to find out, we'll their known as the gentle giant but I didn't fancy disproving this.

It wasn't to far back home now and after a few more pics of my surroundings on such a wonderful day I arrived to a plate of very tasty beef sandwich's and runner beans from my dads garden.

Its been a day to remember and yes I've got the photo's to prove it, about 50 or more. :)

Stay fit and healthy all you healthunlockeders :)

Tony :)

Thanks Jane, I really did enjoy that stroll on Sunday and I'm glad I did it as the weather is changing for this coming weekend, it wouldn't have been the same under grey sky's.

Thanks Susie, I glad you got it and enjoyed my walk too. :)

I meant to write yesterday dallo5 to say how much I enjoyed your message. I felt I was there with you. It was a beautiful day. I was out in the garden with family, using my tri walker, so much easier than the 4 wheeler rollator. Dull today.

There are days when there's not much to write about but last Sunday's walk was real blog material and came easy. A day like that fills you with energy and good feeling which has got to be good don't you think.

If I can get fit enough to be removed from the transplant list by Christmas then my walking will have played a big part of this and I'll be a very happy man

Hi Audrey, thanks for your reply, I'm some crazy way falling ill has helped me enjoy the simple things in life more. I have the time now to appreciate my surroundings and live life at a slower and better pace than when I was working. Of course I would love to get back to work but at the moment I settle for helping to train my apprentice son 2 days a week.
