I am new on here, hello all. I would just like to urge anyone with a similar condition to see about going to the Pulmonary rehab classes. I have been going since August 2017 and it has helped me no end with coping with breathlessness and has made me feel a lot better. I stopped playing bowls because I couldn’t get through the whole game, now I am back to playing although I am a little slower. I am 75 in April and am trying to live each day to the full. Good luck to everyone. Thank you.
PS. The photo was at my grandsons wedding last September.

Hello Roysieboy and welcome to the forum. The majority of members here would agree with you about the importance of pulmonary rehabilitation classes. I am pleased they helped you to get back to bowling.
Greetings mrsmummy. I have a Fitbit watch and try to do the best I can with my steps. Also at my Pulmonary class, I was asked to talk forum where I tell others how I cope with my problems to try and help them. I have done one talk and have got 3 others are planned. I was told it went down well. I will keep trying to help others. 👍🤓
Hi & a big welcome to you into our BLF family. Its so encouraging to learn how other folks deal with the hand they've been dealt and you are no exception! Well done for pursuing your hobby ie: bowls and the PR courses are so brilliant and give you lots of confidence etc. I hope you will contribute when you feel able to our many topics of conversation? On that note,I'll say...until next time!!!
Welcome & hello Roysieboy I am supposed to start pulmonary rehab on Friday don’t know if I will get due to the weather. Only one problem takes me ages sort myself out and supposed to be there at 9am 😫 oh well see how it goes. Rose
Hello Rose. It’s snowing here at the moment but it cannot go on forever, can it. When I went, I found that I tried to do everything they asked and used to come home tired out. I just do what I can do and really find it ok. Good luck. I would b interested to know how u get on.
Thank you for your reply forgot to mention I have copd. And checked my appointment it’s a week on Friday I go lol let you know how it goes 😀😀
Welcome , this is a good site and lots of friendly people. It helps to ‘talk’ with people who are in similar positions. I will try and get into a pulmonary rehab class, i’m sure it helps. Thank you for the info. Take care.
Hello and welcome Roysieboy - are you still going to PR since August 2017? If so you're very lucky. In my area it is a 6-week course, and unless you've been ill you can't extend it because there's a waiting list for the courses.
Hello there Roysieboy, and a very warm welcome to you. I too have very severe Emphaseama and Osteoporosis and a few other medical problems and although I agree with you about Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes, I haven't as yet been myself. Not because I'm being lazy, I'm not up to it yet. However, I'm pleased for you and and admire your attitude, well done you 🙂 and by the way you look amazing for your age . Take care and stay warm ✋️😊
Hi roysieboy, I was upgraded from mild to moderate copd last month,no mention of pulmonary rehab as of yet,do we need to be a certain level for referal do you know?good luck with the bowling,I too bad to finish but it's my weight/size that's the problem not my breathing.
Hello Jollj. I have emphysema and mild COPD, so the consultant said. The consultant referred me to the Pulmonary rehab in June 17th I started it in August 17. He also told me to loose some weight. I was 15st 12lbs and he said I should be around 14st. I have got down to that weight, I am 6ft 1ins. Maybe it is the combination of weight loss, rehab and the inhaler I take have made me feel better. I would ask about rehab if I was you, I swear by it. Good luck.
Hello Dollygann. I am doing ok at the moment. Have been playing bowls, which finishes outdoors this weekend,I then go indoors which is easier. I am still going to rehab and I think that really helps. Just wondering how I will react when the winter comes. Hope u r feeling ok. Thank u for asking. 👍🤓
