And does yours feel sore when you cough on a normal day? I don't cough very often and never produce phlegm either... I haven't had a chest infection since 2010.... But I have lots of other symptoms.... I just wondered if its a every cough occuranace with this disease.... Thank you for your reply..... Heather

Hi Heather, I used to cough terribly when I still smoked and was always pulling muscles in my chest and my lungs would ache like hell. Since giving up though I rarely cough any more, even when I have a infection. Despite all my coughing when I was smoking, I could never produce phlegm either, it used to get to my throat and wouldn't come any further up, I'd just have to swallow it, yuck! If you feel your symptoms are out of the norm for you, I'd go and see your gp if I were you. LIbbyx

Thanks Libby..... I have had so many symptoms and been told I have all sorts wrong lol.... This soreness has worried me though but I am having a ct scan a week on Monday so hopefully I will at last know exactly what my condition is lol.... I mean it takes so long to get to the bottom of things..... I went for a colonoscopy on Friday as I have lost weight and my mom died of cancer of the colon.... He found I had an extra long colon and it was kinked and looped..... I knew the consultant as I worked in the same hospital many years ago and he managed to straighten it..... Amazing lol

I don't cough or produce phlegm not for over a year and not very often then...sometimes a little stringy mucus at the back of my throat from my sinus I think but never enough to be troublesome. My lungs get sore from breathing especially with pursed lips breathing if I am not on oxygen or after exertion like ironing lifting bending ect. They also often get sore just sitting at my laptop on bad days, I wonder if it's my posture I do have Osteoporosis and Sjogrens I know I have had calcium deposits around my ribs

It's a very complex problem when we have multiple health issues which I am sure most of us have.....

It just feels so raw after a cough.... Almost like its on fire..

Yep painful is def right. back, shoulders, neck, round breastbone, ribs - what a crock I feel. The GP just says it is coughing. Oh well (do you ever feel like saying well if you felt like this you would want something done to sort it out) Having worked with doctors in the past though I really dont have a lot of confidence in some of them,,

I do not think the gp's are encouraged shall I say to become very good... I do know there are some excellent gp's who occasionally have the odd bad day in the office so to speak... But unfortunately they are not many.... But if you can get through to a great consultant then I think that has to be our main goal...

I don't think there are many doctors who would change places with us..

The pains that come with it are sometimes quite worrying, I always used think I had something seriously wrong, but the GP told me it's normal, now I just take the pain killers (not ibuprofen ) and live with it.
