I wonder whether I should take the Furosemide tablets ?

Doc prescribed for my very swollen ankles and feet ... I am not sure what makes me reluctant to take them. Anyone with any experience good or bad with this medication ? thanks Julie

I have been on this med for years, and I am not bothered by them at all. You need to remember not to take them before you go on a motorway, for obvious reasons. Love Annieseed xx

Hiya Julie

I have been on these for about five years without any problems and they certainly reduce the swollen feet and ankles. I miss just the odd day if I am going out somewhere. As young Annie says, don't take them if you can't get to a toilet every 15 or 20 minutes.

I took it for a while but it did not work very well for me, nothing nasty just not very effective.

Sorry Julie, I forgot to add that their effect lasts for 4 - 6 hours.

ooh, thanks for the advice .... I can work out times for staying near loo and those times to avoid tablets !

Do take them Julie if you've been prescribed them. The consequences of a water build up aren't pleasant at all.

If & when you put your feet up make sure your ankles are higher than your hips.

There's a free app for your nearest loo if you have an iPhone!

Take care and good luck with your PR, I'm jealous, still waiting for mine xxx

Hi Julie,

I had been taking them since my 40's (in my 60's now) with no ill effects. I used to not take them whenever I went on holiday, but the pharmacist suggested I take them at night. It does mean more trips to the loo, but that was no big deal.

Since April this year, I have had a problem with gout/arthritis in my big toe and the doc told me to stop taking them because I have had 4 flare ups since April. Haven't taken them for 6 weeks and still my toe is painful. Sigh.

Eventually, your body will adapt to them and some motorways have services about 20mins apart.

Good luck.
