I'm frustrated with the medical profession.

I've had two periods of hospitalisation this year. The first in February with what was to all intents and purposes a Cardiac Arrest. I was resuscitated by paramedics and spent a week in hospital. In that period I saw five different doctors and three different consultants none of whom agreed with each other. In the end they couldn't find anything wrong with my heart and said I'd fainted!

Eleven days ago I went to hospital and saw an A & E Doctor who informed me I had Pneumonia and a shadow on my lung that could be Cancer. Admitted to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield I saw another doctor and finally a consultant. The first Dr said I had Pneumonia and Pleurisy and he wasn't convinced re the X-Ray I'd had in A & E. The Consultant concurred with the diagnoses and said the shadow was just from my previous chest infection and this Pneumonia and it was nothing to worry about and it wouldn't turn in to anything.

There just doesn't seem to be any joined up care. Doctors/Consultants don't seem to talk to each other. This state of affairs is even present in my GP Surgery, I could see five or six different doctors and they'd all say something different.

My own GP agrees with the Consultant but I've asked for a CT Scan to make certain.

It's the Mid Yorks NHS Trust - Give their PALS team a ring on 01924 543686 / 543685 / 543688 / 543687 Monday – Friday: 8.30am – 5.00pm.

Tell them of your concerns and ask them to investigate and get back to you. They are based at Pinderfields but cover Dewsbury to Pontefract as well. They will usually contact the Matron for the areas concerned and work to get a resolution.

Thanks Gordon I'll do that.

You've had a rough time with one thing and another, it is difficult with these doctors, I've often thought if only they would talk to each other, but as things are they won't discuss anything outside their expertise, just look at the patient's records. Its frustrating for the patient as it restricts you to only talking lung to lung docs and only heart to heart doc, on the other hand the GP will look at results and can talk with you about them both but the GP is not an expert in heart or lung unless they have opted to study further in those areas.

To get answers you might need to write separate letters to each consultant through Pals or the Hospital Chief Executive.

I hope you can get a better understanding about what the facts are. The helpline may be able to advise you on what questions you need to follow up on.

you want to try that in Lincolnshire good system but doesn't work, and I think you get coded as a trouble maker. they never give you an answer that means anything.

Every time I have an ECG it throws up an ambiguous anomaly. So I get to see a consultant who does another ECG and then says that he doesn't know what it is really but it is probably nothing to worry about. This has happened three times. Consultants? Quacks most of them.

I've had breathing issues for over 2 yrs now. I don't have copd because I have been tested for it numerous times. I finally went off to see a Dr at my surgery in Jan this yr, again, for chest pain and breathing issues. Saw the Locum, who said it sounded like I had heart issues but because I had an echogram in May 2011 he wouldn't send me to cardiology but sent me to chest clinic instead. Saw the Consultant, had a good chat and sent me off for some tests. 24 Bp (I knew I didn't have issues here) passed test. Scan on my tummy (because when it kicked off one night, pain was everywhere) found cysts on my kidneys, failed test. lung function test. failed. I have reduction in number on my breathing. failed test. Ct scan for lungs, still waiting results. I was told blood pressure dropped. Not heard anymore. 24 hr ecg. failed test. I have Wenkebach, iregular heart rythym. This is all through a chest consultant. Just been to see cardiology last week and he says its all my lungs and nothing to do with heart, my heart is healthy, even though I have the letter stating my 24 ecg says Wenkebach. So I have 2 consultants arguing over my diagnosis and one is blaming the other.

Me I'm just piggy in the middle who still hasn't got a clue as to why when I do stuff my heart beats all over and I lose my breath to the point I can't even talk correctly, panting between breaths,

This all started in January this yr and its now May and I still have got no further than except 2 people arguing. My issues began 2 yrs ago with the same issue. Its getting worse not better and I still know nothing.

Keep pushing for answers, don't take everything they say as gospel.

I finally get to walk the treadmill on Thurs to see how much stress I'm putting on my heart, hopefully, fingers crossed it will show what needs to be shown and I can get my life back.

Good luck my friend..
