Just had my surgery. Can anyone tell me about recovery time, driving afterwards, returning to work. Any other information would be greatly appreciated. I have skin numbness too. Thanks

Vats surgery for pleurectomy
Hi millie61
Probably the best thing to do is to speak to your consultant and/or nurse, they will be in the best position - are you still in hospital?
If not discuss with your GP for specific advice.
Hope you feel better soon.
Cheers
Jo
I stopped off work for six weeks. Was probably driving as and when necessary after surgery. I was very uncomfortable after the procedure which I had last December, but I feel fully healed now. You will know in yourself when you feel up to getting back into your normal routine.
Hope you not feeling too uncomfortable Millie61.
Best wishes to you,
Tony
My VATS was a biopsy to diagnose my lung condition (IPF). Two incisions through the side of my rib cage. The pleurectomy procedure is obviously different, so your recovery may be completely different to mine.
