No. I was only diagnosed in March with moderate COPD and put on Ventolin (Salbutamol). Had a check up with the nurse 3 weeks later and told her I was having discomfort in my chest along with other things. She suggested Spiriva might be better as she had lots of patients who were better on Spiriva. I had to see GP for change of prescription and have now been on Spiriva for almost 3 weeks and it does suit me a lot better.

No. I am moderate but they decided to put me on Spiriva after a month as just salbutamol did nothing for me (and it still doesn't). Spiriva really helps though. Ive been on it almost a year now.

I don't think they would normally give it if you were mild, but who knows.

I am in the U.S., so maybe it is different here, but I am on Spiriva for what has been diagnosed as "mild" COPD.

I was given it 12 months after being told I had COPD, as far as I know my condition was only mild, I took it for 9mnths but found it just didn't help me, now only use Ventolin & Seritide,

I was put on Spiriva 3 yrs ago and it has made a vast improvement to my COPD my GP also changed ne from Seritide to Serivent last year as he is not keen on steroid inhalers and I find it much better donot have to use Ventolin as much

I have been told I am borderline mild/mod copd.fev1 63% and had asthma for over 20 years.. I have spiriva and salbutamol.... Neither of which seem to do a lot of anything much.

I am moderate level (58%). I was initially given just Ventolin and after a year was given Spiriva. after another year a chemist said you should be on something else as well as Spiriva. I ended of up Salbutamol but this gave a hoarse voice including loss of voice completely.

I am still on Spiriva and now on QVAR100 and Serevent. I am not sure any are doing any good, I think my breathlessness has a lot to do with my heart failure (had a triple by pass in 2009) - have spoken to my new GP and she is investigating.

David
