spiriva
Hi Frank, I think you will find that many of the good people here are currently taking Spiriva - I am and have been for the last three years. The only side effect I have had is that being a powder, when inhaled it can stick to the vocal chords and leave me all husky. A quick gargle of mouthwash sorts that out though and is to be recommended after every dose. You can tell your G.P. and/or Consultant about the side effects you are experiencing and he could change the medication for you.
I have been taking Spiriva Respimat for about 3 years with no ill effects.
I have spiriva too Frank, have had it for 5 or 6 years now without a problem apart from huskiness like Scrobbitty. Maybe if you are taking a few meds you need something to protect your stomach. I take quite a few different meds and was having awful tummy probs a while ago and was given omeprazole (there are a few different ones) virtually stopped the probs overnight.. Libby x
And I thought all you girls on here just naturally had sexy, husky voices. Ho hum, another disillusionment, To answer your question, Frank, after four years on Spiriva I haven't suffered any side effects. As Scrobbity says, a quick gargle will get rid of any powder residue. Good luck with it.

I also have bee using Spiriva for a long time now and cannt remember ay side effects. So best of luck and keep trying.

I was taken off Respimat for some reason, and now have the Spiriva Handihaler. I don't have COPD, but Bronchiectasis with pseudomonas. But as Scrobbity said, it can give you a husky voice. I usually have a swig of plain water afterwards.
I've been using spiriva handihaler for nearly 8 years now, mostly no side affects, occasional thrush in the mouth which is usually short lived and probably comes about because I didn't take enough time rinsing / brushing teeth after use.
If you are pretty sure your stomach pain is from using spiriva check back in with your doctor, it will be a pity if you can't tolerate it, its one of the most helpful meds I find.
Like the others, I too am on Spiriva and have no side effects apart from a sexy voice!

Hello Frank, I'm using Spiriva, but have not had any stomach issues because of this inhaler. If you are experiencing any side effects you should contact your GP. Take care x
Spiriva works well for me and has done for a couple of years (just don't use atrovent at the same time), but I suffer with pulled muscles in the stomach area due to coughing, they really can hurt and make you feel like something serious has gone wrong. So if you have been coughing a lot that could be your answer.
Love the spiriva,on it for years with no problems.Due to less lung function, take it along with onbrez, the last 12 months, another goodie! xx
I was on Spiriva for about 2 years( I have bronchiectasis) I felt nauseous and I eventually suffered from terrible heartburn, I also had Shingles while I was taking it, this is mentioned in the side effects , plus I got a urine infection. I have been changed over to Oxis inhaler now ( Formeterol) which isn't without side effects but at least I can eat.
I have had a very bad u.t.i since taking Spiriva it was so bsd i have gone back to Relvar
I’m on spirits respiratory. No side efects
