Chemical Allergy, Asthma or both?

Something at my sister's house always gets me, it's like a chemical allergy that burns my eyes nose throat lungs mouth everything within 15 min. This time I use my inhaler and I only had all the burning but not sob.I'm assuming that the Dupixent that I take is starting to work again because all of my symptoms are lesser, and I can tolerate so much more. I don't know if anybody can relate to that does your asthma change at different times act differently, I do cough sometimes later after an attack, but I haven't really gotten that dry cough kind of attack.

Does your sister have plug in's or sented candles, any animals, I say this as that can set me off on my eyes nose and throat

Nothing, (oh lord, the strong plugins! 😱) It must be just one thing that she uses and is unaware of, some chemicals give me a strong reaction and others, it depends on how my asthma is at the time.

I missed what you said about eyes nose and throat, not many talk about that, is it something you have experience with?

I get the involvement of the entire respiratory system, basically everything, nose and mouth back, not usually the eyes.

I have eczema/ asthma/ allergies, even if everything is good, If inflammation is high that day, then everything is usually amplified.

Oh yeah sometimes it's set off by plug in's or a scented candle but cats are my worst enemies lol my eyes start first, then the nose and throat. it drives me insane for a hours especially my eyes. I find a good long shower helps. But it's the life living with allergy Asthma.

The worst for me are those free standing automatic air fresheners

My Asthma changes all the time, so some days I can do things, some days I cannot.

Presumably there is something that irritates you at your sisters. To be safe when visiting, you probably need with your sister, to find out the cause.

Yes, some days I know to be super careful and avoid everything I can, and other days its more tolerant. I'm hoping she finds out what it is. I told her it may not cause the reaction with her but she has autoimmune conditions, and it can definitely make them worse without her knowing it i'm sure.

Does she have animals? Is is possible there is mold? Does she clean with anything with a lot of bleach? If you're over there frequently you could buy a small air purifier for her and ask her to run it around the house for a few days before you come to see if it makes a difference. Those aren't too expensive and could help rule out airbone allergens. I'm sorry, not being able to visit with family and friends is the worst.

No. the house is pretty safe, and I think everything they wear and use when I'm there is pretty safe except for this one cursed thing. Yes it can be pretty isolating at times when you can't go places and visit people.

I think the air purifier idea is an excellent suggestion. Do you take antihistamines and/or Montelukast? If not, they could help too.

I take antihistamines when needed, I am looking into Montelukast. I stayed away for three days and I didn't have an attack for three days, I'm fairly sure it's a chemical in a beauty product. Yes the mask is great, most times I bring it with me and only in case of emergency I will hold it up with my hand get out of the irritant area, and it can save the day.

Dust, smoke, fragrances would play a role for asthma person Also heavy chemicals like lysol or clorox

If they don't have air purifier with hepa filter I recommend one. I have 2 in my house

Cleaning products I open my front door and my windows so the fumes don't stay inside my place

I run the air purifier while cleaning

Funny thing is those wipes a lot of them are sickening and that Swiffer mop, just the unopened brand new box will smell up an entire room maybe even an entire house yet the Clorox wipes I think they're the plain ones or something they don't get me the same. It's just that whatever is in it and your lungs don't like it thing.😺
