Sorry you're feeling so rubbish trace58.

I don't think it's helpful advice for them to tell you not to take steroid tablets when you're struggling! If you need them you need them, but they should be asking why this is happening so much.

I would contact your GP or asthma nurse asap (ideally avoid whoever told you to just avoid steroids) and say you're struggling and needing a lot of Ventolin. You can't just keep on this way without help.

Needing multiple steroid courses and a lot of Ventolin frequently shows that your asthma is really not controlled. Your GP should be looking at referring you to a specialist - the usual trigger for referral is two oral steroid courses in a year and you've had more than that in a couple of months.

Alongside seeing your GP asap (call GP first), you may find it helpful to talk to the asthma nurses on the helpline. They can talk it through and help you get through to your GP if they're not listening or giving you what you need. 0300 2225800 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Ah I'm glad you have an appointment coming up! But the rest still applies.

Of course it's best to minimise pred where you can but not if you need it.
