Hi, if you are concerned and your blue inhaler is not working I would ring 111 for advice.

The helpline is closed over the weekend. I agree that you should call the 111 service if several doses of your blue inhaler doesn't bring your asthma under control.

Try it and see, if they don't reply until Monday you'll know it's a Monday to Friday as they state above...Mon to Fri 09.15 to 5pm

Just seen this - I hope you've got some medical help by now Pinkyboo28. If your asthma is getting worse and your inhaler isn't working then you don't want to wait around for the helpline. Either 111 but to be honest if you're struggling and your blue inhaler isn't helping anymore then 999 or go to A&E if ambulances are slow in your area. This page may help: asthmaandlung.org.uk/condit...

The helpline is great but they're Mon-Fri 9-5 in both cases and not there for urgent advice. If you could get hold of them out of hours they would just tell you to get help as above. I do find if you're unwell but didn't think you were that bad, the phone helps them hear things you can't - I've had them tell me I sound awful and to do something now when I thought I wasn't too bad.

Thanks for your response, I ended up calling 111 and they gave me out of hours appointment. I have now been prescribed steroid tablets for the fourth time in the last 3 months. It’s just so awful lately. Thanks for the info

It sounds awful 😞 Apologies if you've already posted about this but have you been referred to a hospital/are you under a hospital team?

If not then your GP should be referring you - the usual prompt for referral is 2 courses of oral steroids in a year.

No they have not referred me yet I have an appointment booked tomorrow with asthma nurse and will mention a referral because it’s getting out of hand I’m not sure why they haven’t already made the referral. Thanks
