Blood pressure medication

My doctor has changed my BP medication from Amlodipine to Candesartan because it caused serious problems with my gums. The problem is one of the possible side effects with Candesartan is dizziness which I have a phobia of. She has only put me on a low dose 4mg but I am afraid to take them. Has anyone taken this medication.

I would take it night. I had the same issue with Amlodipine making me sleepy in the morning, so I switched to night time. No problems.

No I have been on Amlodopine for a long time but with not really any known side effects. I am sorry to hear about your problems and I hope something is found that saves you all this stress as well.

I'm on 8mg of Candesartan (and have been for about 18 months now), and don't have any noticable side effects. My GP said it was one of the best-tolerated and most-effective BP meds, and seems to be the go to option here in Oz at least.

Hi, my husband was on Candesarten but had to be changed to Amlodipine due to persistent coughing. You have made me look in Amlodipine and found that Benidipine which is similar didn't have the effects on the gums like Amlodipine which I am going to get my husband to discuss with the GP. For dizziness, for the first week he took them at night as suggested to get used to them and didn't find he had dizzy spells during the day but then switched to morning with his breakfast and thankfully hasn't had any dizzy spells. Hope this helps

Hi Lilac - I just started on 8mg Candesartan and also have a phobia of vertigo. I take mine in the evening after dinner. So far, no problems. It does leave me a bit drowsy during the day, but that should regulate itself soon. Good luck!
