Chest feeling off

Recently was prescribed steroids for 7 days about 2 weeks ago. Last few days my chest just feels off like heavy and as if I’m hungry for air like wanting to gulp. Before the steroids peak flow had dropped to 60% of best and since finishing them it is 80% but a fews days yo-yoing to 70% of best.

Wondering if anyone had similar or wisdom, keep thinking I should give myself more time to recover or go back to drs.

hi Lotti. Both I think. Back to the GP and be kind to yourself and give yourself more time to recover. Best wishes.

Back to Dr's. It's not unusual to need a second course of steroids to tackle a flare up. Additional treatment is needed and your doctor will be able to assess what's needed. All the best and hope you recover soon.

Do go back to the doctors, better to be safe than sorry. You may have developed an infection or perhaps something else is going on or just need anothercourseof steroid. GPS are now reluctant to prescibe antibiotics but for some of us lungies they remain lifesavers. In my experience, most of my chronic chest infections have been on the back of viral colds or sore throat &/or coughs. For me any trapped mucus in lungs leaves a perfect warm wet environment for bacteria to party & multiply.

These past few years I use antiseptic throat spray to prevent bugs travelling down airways, drink effervescent Vitamin C 1000mg at first sign of a snuffle to give immune system a boost (plus kiwis & high vit c foods). Luckily my asthma is reasonably well controlled with also helps prevent my coughing & inflammation of airways.
