Well I have finally caught Covid, in fact it is the first time that I have noticeably caught anything since 2019. At the moment I have chills, vomiting and a headache=not happy. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or info. on how to stay as comfy as possible and anything to look out for Asthma wise. I am in my late 50's so although I have previously had 4 Covid jabs my Asthma has been well controlled for the last few years and so I am not eligible for any treatment or for the Autumn jab this year.

Oh no, how horrid, hope you feel better real soon. 🤗 You say you weren't eligible for autumn Covid vax, why, are you too young? I am 68, still waiting for it plus flu vax, home visit, 3 months after being told I'm in vulnerable group. When I ask when, told wait, wait etc. ridic! Covid hasn't gone away but like flu only the weakest suffer. 🤷♀️Best wishes, rest, be warm, comfy, treat symptoms, take care.X
That's not bad going to have held off that long! I've had it once (August 2022) and it wasn't a fun experience but not the worst - I have severe asthma. Swine flu and RSV were worse for me.
I would say don't overdo it, as with any infection - rest! I also found that COVID wanted me to be flat (I felt crap if I wasn't), but my lungs didn't like it so i had to compromise with a wedge pillow kind of arrangement.
It wasn't too bad for my asthma - definitely kicked up a bit at the start before I knew I had it, but not the worst (relatively speaking, for me). And at the end but there was a storm so that doesn't count lol. I did also find I was coughing up small amounts of mucus for a while after.
It made me sleep badly and have restless legs. I found out afterwards that magnesium supplements *may* help with the legs - but as with any supplement, please be cautious and don't take more than the limit/check it's safe for you, and no guarantees it will help.
Hope you feel better soon!
I have had covid twice already (with a time gap of 1 year). Both times, I got antivirals within 2 days of the positive test, and it felt generally OK.
The 2nd time I had covid, I got it 2 weeks after I got my new booster (how ironic), so the covid only lasted for 5 days (meaning, 5 days of testing positive). I also did not need high steroids the second time. In contrast, the first covid bout lasted for 2 weeks (of positive tests) and I took 20 mg of prednisone.
Symptom-wise, sleeping was problematic (waking up all the time), and I felt tired. No issues with the sense of taste. Temperature never went above 38C. With the antivirals, in 2 weeks after the negative test I was already skiing in the Alps.
Overall, it seemed that if one is already on asthma medications and has an action plan, covid was manageable. I have had worse colds and flu before.
