Does montelucast cause thick mucous?

Not in my case.if u have lung disease,that may cause thick mucous.carbocysteime helps to thin it

I know that it causes terrible night terrors in 1 out of 8 people who take it. Which seems high. I don’t know about the other side effects but Google the known side effects - they should all be listed.

No - absolutely the opposite effect for me -

When carbocysteine had not worked at all.

Hi I take Montelukast chewable and they have really helped me remove the mucus which previously was so tenacious an earthquake would not shift and caused breathing difficulties and lung infections. I only take carbo cysteine in emergencies then my lungs feel like they are full of liquid and bubble when I breath so manage now with two inhalers and Montelukast is a god send. It’s good that the thick mucus is coming out of your lungs. Best wishes.

Hi. No I did not have mucus although it didn’t help my asthma either. It seems to be the drug of choice atm so it must work for some. Maybe you have a chest infection? If the mucus is green then it id likely and you may need antibiotics. Good luck with it. 😊

Not for me. I take montelukast together with carbocisteine and have recently bought a flutter. The combination seems to work well

In my opinion its best not to Google, read the leaflet thoroughly it explains the possible side effects in order of likelihood. If that doesn't help speak to your respiratory team. I've taken it for many years without side effects. My dose is a tiny 10mg.

Perhaps something else is going on.
