MONTELUCAST

I have had this on prescription for some time but not sure if it is effective. Does anyone else have experience of it?

Lots of asthmatics take it, including many people on here. Have your symptoms improved since taking it? Has your peak flow changed?

I have had no change since taking it. So will mention at review at end December. Haven't had a peak flow reading for a long time.

I been taking it for 5 years as part of my asthma treatment I am very allergic to house dust mite so this help combat this. I have had no side effects (I take it at night).

Thank you for replying. I did not realise that there can be a big allergic response. I will mention at review soon

Hi

I used to be on it. Only side effect was lucid vivid dreams for me.

There’s a chunk of info about Monte in here; healthunlocked.com/asthmauk... that you may want to read (just scroll til you find it 😉)

It is a marmite drug tho. Some really fine it helps others say no real difference. If you don’t think it’s doing anything speak to your GP and maybe broach stopping it to see if removing it from your regime affects anything

Hello Emma. I will have a review at end December so will chat to the GP then. Thanks for your msg.

I've taken it for ages and I take it of a morning because of the lucid dreams and slight increase in body temperature that made for an awful nights sleep

Taking it of a morning I find i don't have this issue

I have just been prescribed this. I've not started it yet. I am anxious about the side effects and it making me sick. I have recently got an assistance dog but my asthma has flared up, so feel I should give it a try.

Some people do experience side effects (and to be honest those are the ones you'll hear about, not the good experiences) but many more people take it with no negative effects at all.

Hello Caline. I did try it but had no affect at all so don't worry about side effects.

Hi, I started this a few months ago and after reading some information about it was very afraid. I decided to go ahead and try it. I did have some side affects at the start, lucid dreams and stomach pain. That has all gone now I couldn’t live without it. I forgot to take it one night this week. I knew about it the next morning. I woke feeling congested and I cut short my usual walk that day as I felt a tightness in my chest. Felt much easier the following day. Give it a try, I was very sceptical.

The people on here who reply are brilliant, have great advice and know what they are talking about as they have “done that and got the t-shirt”. I have got wonderful advice which had helped me tremendously.

Good luck! And I would give it try, you have nothing to lose 😊

I tried it for 3 days and am now marked down as allergic to it (by GP). I had stomach pains and sickness. If you are allergic you will know pretty quickly - I’m glad I tried it and am sad I’m one of the unlucky ones. It subsided pretty quickly once I stopped it x
