inhaler reducing

Hi everyone

I was advised to reduce my steroid inhaler dose I think as I have been ok for quite a awhile I have reduced my dose only in the evenings so I can taper it off, I’m a week in and had a rough night it’s rained non stop and dropped temp here so could be that but my main question is has anyone reduced their steroid inhaler and felt very achy and fluey? Or does that only happen with tablets?

Thanks

Hello. I am on symbicort. I was on 2 puffs twice a day. A year ago, the asthma nurse suggested I reduce to 1 puff twice a day. Thankfully I didn't have any withdrawals. If I did though, I would have spoken with the GP to make sure it was OK. All the best

Hi thanks for your reply, I have gone back up to my original dosage now as that’s what I was told to do if I started getting symptoms. Very annoying as I’ve felt well so long might just be coincidence but I was told to go back up on dosage if I felt unwell. Hopefully I’ll be back to where I was again soon.

That's a shame. Maybe you could try again another time. All the best

I reduced my Flixotide as was much better, to one dose am but kept it at 2 in the pm as nights seem to be worse for asthma then. Worked for a while but back up now to 2 bid. Shall reduce again when stabilised as think the least amount of drugs I can take the better, can always go back up again, though it needs to be taken a while to get full effect.

Hi

Good idea next time I try the taper I will do the reduced dose in the morning although it won’t be anytime soon 🙄.

Still feeling a bit rough maybe a virus maybe the weather maybe the ? Maybe the ? It would be great if I knew why but at least I’m back on my old dose.

I'm still getting over gastric flu, 🤮 week now, also my asthma been worse probably coz no cleaner, have to dust meself now, even had to use Ventolin first time in ages. Catch 22 - can't let dust build up but cleaning it gives me worse asthma 🤷‍♀️

My asthma plan is fostair 100 mart when I am in green zone, and fostair 200 when I go into amber persistently.

So I am changing my steroid dosage a bit. It does effect me a little when I change but nothing major.

Hi thanks for replying, I might try reducing again when I feel ready and see how it goes then.

The same was suggested to me. I was on Fostair 200/6, 4 puffs daily in winter, and half that in summer, which was working fine. But in March it was decided I should go on the mart regime with Fostair 100/6. I was happy to try this. But I have had some issues this summer, and I am worried about how to manage through the winter. For me it is compounded by the introduction of Salamol, which feels less helpful than Ventolin was. To hopefully sort at least some of this I have asked for a review with my practice.
