My little girl is 3 and a half and has actually just gone the other way she was on the 50 but with the really high pollen had some problems and has had to be increased to the 100

The reason for not wanting to keep your little one on the 100 is that it's not licenced for such young children (it's not licenced for my 3 year old but was the best of 2 evils)

Aw is it not ! My dr didn’t mention this she wants to reduce to the 50 is ur little one on the 50? I don’t know what he will be like on the lower dose as he’s been in the 100 for about 5 weeks and only needed his blue inhaler once x

My little one was on the 50 but after a few bad bouts and talk of adding another medication (montelukast) the mrs said about increasing from the 50 to the 100 and the doctor reluctantly did it after mentioning she would need to speak to someone senior as it's not licenced for children my daughters age

They wont reduce her now for quite some time..they normally like to see how stable you are after 3 months before reducing

Aw god I didn’t realise this he’s never been giving to 50 just 100 right away! He’s got a review in two week time so maybe I’ll mention it then am not sure why he was giving this right away before the 50 maybe because the ventolin wasn’t lasting the 4 hours and he wasn’t in a steroid

That will be why then.. if the ventolin wasnt lasting 4 hours

The thing with steroids and children even adults is they have lots of potential side effects now being inhaled they are a much lower dose than tablets.. so the chances of issues is lower than tablets

So that's probably why the gp gave you the 100 straight away the alternative would have been the 50 and a course of prednisolone... which could have been problematic (some people dont tolerate oral steroids very well)

He was hospitalised and giving 3 days worth of prednisolone and then when we went back to Gp as still could hear wheeze he was giving the brown inhaler 100mcg I don’t know what the next step will be this is all new he’s only started to have these symptoms recently had 3 episodes of wheeze one randomly one when unwell and then coughing fit when exercising all within a 3 week period and this is how it all started hospital out of hours and a n e as the blue inhaler wasn’t keeping the wheeze at bay it’s all awful scary 🙁

It is awfully scary... we got woke up when my little one was 18 months old to her trying to cry and breathe at the same time and not doing either very well luckily she disturbed me and we got 999 her within 5 mins a rapid responder was giving her salbutamol from a nebuliser and called the ambulance crew to keep coming... we ended up in hospital for the evening before being let out the following day

My son was on the same dose. Now in the summer months he doesnt use his inhaler. Soon as winter comes he goes back on the inhaler. Dropping it should be fine but if you notice a difference see your GP again.

Thank you so much, he had the symptoms in summer I’ve to go for a review with GP in next few weeks so I’ll hopefully see what they think about going down to the 50 and maybe back to 100 if he struggles or requires it
