I usually start (incredibly) gentle exercise routine before I feel like it in the recovery phase
I learnt this in the pulmonary rehabilitation course which if available locally is really worth going on ( mixture of physio and health education) and can even be done more than once as your condition changes
So sorry to hear of your difficulties I too have frequent chest infections and find after each one things a little less good (Now COPD but started off as asthma )
Hi Hazel,Sorry to say no great tips but lots of sympathy! I wasn't as bad as you but I did have a terrible winter and Covid. I'm feeling much better now but really did have to be patient and pace myself. I planned small activities then built from there plus all the usual stuff like taking vitamins etc.... It took me 3 months to initially feel ok and 5 months to get back to longer walks.
So sorry to hear you have had a rotten 6 months. No wonder you are feeling down. You can only trust in what doctors are telling you and just try to get better dad by day. I know its difficult when you are getting out of breath because I am the same. Take care and hope you feel better soon. Brian
I start off with gentle swimming after a nasty attack and then build up from there, into walking etc. Straight into walking leaves me exhausted
I can presently do four to five miles walking at approx one mile an hour, so slowish, two months ago, working for 10 minutes was an issue.
My present issue is doing anything which requires my arms to be raised, it really does my breathing in.
So next for me is the gym to try to raise my walking pace and do some raised arm work in a controlled and safe environment.
However a nasty attack will slide me down the exercise list again.
It is all about not pushing it for me, pushing it often leads me into a bad asthma episode. Swimming when it is quiet is my perfection, though it does not suit some.
Perhaps you have Long Covid? I'd get back to GP, maybe he can give you a tonic or maybe it's going to take much longer than you want to recover from all you've been through. The sun is shining, chin up, breath some fresh air and smile- even a false smile releases endorphins which make you feel better.Good luck.๐ค Here's some happy emojis for you ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐๐๐คฃand non allergy flowers ๐๐ปโ๏ธ๐ X.
hi Hazel. Iโm so sorry you are feeling so weak and run down, but really it isnโt surprising given all youโve been through. It is a waiting game and you do have to be kind to yourself and do little things and rest in between. It does take a good while for your body to get rid of the remains of tissue that needs clearing away and to rebuild new cells. One tip a doctor gave me was to ensure you are eating enough protein as well as lots of other healthy foods. Are you on any vitamin D3? I would imagine that you havenโt been able to spend much time in sunlight? Best wishes to you and lots of positive thoughts heading your way. ๐๐๐
I also take magnesium and VitKmk7 in order to boost the absorption of VitD3. There are several magnesium mixes (it has to be paired with other things) and each has a different effect. If you're looking for energy then Magnesium Malate is probably best, especially with a high elemental magnesium amount, as it has good absorption quality. I take one that has a dose of 320mg elemental magnesium. Take with food.
oh Hazel. You poor love. And hereโs me feeling sorry for myself after one horrid chest infection ( pleurisy) - and pneumonia as I write. Itโs ghastly isnโt it, and I can totally understand why you re so fed up. All I can say is I know how you feel. Shame you donโt live in Arnside we could commiserate over copious cups of tea.
I canโt think of any solution to perk you up.
I wonder if a dietician and a concentrated regime of vitamins might help? Thinking I might go down that route myself. Do you take probiotics? Worth thinking about. Our gut flora drives our bodies and brains.
Two valley live organic yog is good as well. Hope youโre back to normal soon Louise xx
afternoon there ๐ itโs not a great combination is it ? Rest lot , eat well and take each day at a time I suppose, not a lot else we can do really, all the best x
Hi, so sorry you're feeling awful. Totally sympathise as I've been there myself with continuous infections & pneumonia. Once immunity is so depleted we're open to any passing bug and viruses can easily become bacterial if there's warm damp mucus sitting in lungs. Pneumonia can take a few months to fully recover from (as can covid) , take it one day at a time, baby steps, be good to yourself, rebuild your immune system.
My sis has a set of pedals to use, they're not big & sit on the floor in front of her wheelchair, really useful to get circulation leg going without too much effort.
morning, thank you for your kind reply , il certainly look into the deal idea as I donโt want to walk out too far for fear of not getting back and then you worry that you are not stirring the blood enoughโฆโฆ.we are such worry worts arenโt we ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐
