Repeat prescription

My GP appears to have removed the option of me ordering steroids as a repeat prescription. The last lot I had had to come via 111 as my practice had not processed my prescription - it appears they were querying it.I have been dependent on prednisone since 2015 for my eosinophilic asthma - biologics haven't worked and I am waiting to see if this has become vasculitis.

I am fed up with having to explain my situation to phamacists and GP's who have no idea about my condition. I have just contacted the unit I attend to ask then to speak to my practice to impress on them the seriousness of my condition and the repercussions of me not having any steroids. The practice I use has a horrendous reputation but sadly I imagine it's the same everywhere.

poor you - why not try to book an appointment with your GP or write to them to find out why they are doing this / often it’s to prompt you to book a review appointment. Were the steroids recommended by a hospital consultant or another GP practice so you should have a letter to show your current GP to clarify the situation. They may have a different view on best treatment- things move on in medical practice do keep an open eye on a more up to date suggestion. Continuous steroids is not good do I hope you are also taking something for your bones as well

sometimes drugs are removed from the repeat prescription list at the medication review if you haven't actually needed them for some time. This happened to me a while ago so when I ordered my next lot of repeat medication....via emis... there's a space to write something for your doctor so I asked them to re-instate the missing medication, and the reason, which they promptly did.

It would appear that nobody looks at my records - they just see I am using lots of steroids.I don't take them because I like the taste.

How lucky I am that every medic who deals my 4 lung problems Heart Epilepsy and other problems are in contact with each other via E.Mail and Snail Mail so that everyone involved with me and my problems are all up to date with my personal needs. I even get unexpected phone calls etc. just to ask how I am doing, but firstly they ask how my wife is {She is the one who cares for me better than a mother hen} and not me. I wish everyone with any problems what ever they are should be treat like me. I will tell any of them how I feel about their diagnosis and if they say " I think it is this, or it could be that?" I say" Stop thinking and prove what you think it is before giving me tablets which I do not require, but if I do require medical intervention that I get a written reason for their prognosis. I also keep a track on all my medication and my wife always makes sure that I follow all instructions to the bokk

Do you take the oral steroids daily or only during a flare up?

I need them regularly. Take 50mg a day for a week and I am OK for a couple of weeks - then they wear off.
