I am lucky enough to be going away for 3 months from August for a once in a lifetime trip. Planning ahead I asked my GP for 3 months asthma and osteoporosis medication from August. The Fostair 200 inhaler is a restricted item in my CCG, ( only one a month), so I was delighted that this didn’t seem to be a problem. BUT when I asked for my July medication, it wasn’t available to order through the NHS app. I went to my GP surgery, where I didn’t get past the receptionist, who told me I wouldn’t be able to get another prescription as NHS England had a limit of 3 months at a time- and that some GPS would refuse to prescribe for 3 months so I would have to get a private prescription while I was away! In despair, I went to my local oharmacy and explained the issue… the pharmacist happily and promptly sorted it and I now have my July prescription as well as the 3 months for my trip. I am so grateful to that pharmacist, they are the unsung heroes and heroines of our health care system.
