I think every time I have a flare up and feel the inevitability of taking steroids and feeling rough for a couple of months I feel despondent, so I can empathise.

When I feel like this, I do as you have done and write on this forum to get some support or advice. I find just writing about how I’m feeling helps me to feel a bit better. It helps me to know that other people are feeling, are experiencing or have experienced the same as me.

You’re not on your own. Hope you feel stronger and more able to keep on fighting soon.

I am currently feeling like this at the moment on my second rescue dose of pred and antibiotics in a month and generally feeling crappy. I find my hobbies eg my tropical fish and my djing help cheer me up, also watching movies and things on YouTube etc helps take my mind off feeling bad.

I hope you feel better soon

I’m sorry you feel so down but please plod on….the only way is up..it is v v hard going when you feel things aren’t getting any better and you’re not getting anywhere, at least you have taken the first step and reached out on here…keep going…..phone asthma uk helpline tomorrow they might be able to help… I know other people don’t know what you’re going through and as with any other invisible illness you might look ok on the outside but it’s totally not the case. See if you can find an asthma support group in your area or close by for you to visit and actually meet someone who totally understands what you’re going through and feeling…please take care of yourself…X

I can definitely empathise. I'm out of a flare up at present but worry about it happening again. I still have symptoms and wonder if I will ever feel good again. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel for us all. I use my hobbies too. Feel better soon!

Hang in there. You will emerge stronger once this passes!

On here we will all have our ups and downs but when you're down just think of all the wonderful family/friends you have who lives would be worse for not having you in them.

Sorry you’re not doing too good. I’m in a flare up at the moment too and it does get you down. I never really feel well to be honest and do manage to stay cheerful a lot of the time but not always, but we all have our breaking points.

Like Angelgoth said, hobbies (that don’t require much lung power or energy) can be very sustaining, also talking to family and friends about how you’re feeling. I hope you feel better soon.

I know you posted 24 hours ago, and I hope you are feeling more positive now. If nothing else, you've found that lots of people can identify with the way you feel, but they didn't give up. You must talk to somebody, on this forum, the asthma nurse, the Samaritans if you're desperate in the middle of the night, but talking does help. Give us some details about what is that is making you feel so awful and somebody will have been there before. You are not alone.

Have you tried Himalayan salt pipes? It could be considered alternative stuff but in some countries it is accepted as a treatment for loads of lung trouble.

Hi, just a reminder about posts with alternative treatments - even if they're more widely used elsewhere: healthunlocked.com/asthmalu...

I have felt at times suisidal with no help from my GP or A&E so I stopped takeing all the medication which was prescribed but still take Aspirin, Amlodopine and Atrovastatin for my blood and cholestro and my inhalers. I now feel much better and not only my Asthma Specialist and Ashma Physiotherapist say how much better that I am even my test results at my last asthma review had improved. It will be interesting today to find out why my GP has made me a telephone appointment for this afternoon which was unknown to me except I recieved a TEXT for the appointment. I do not suggest that anyone should take this route but to take medical advise

Yes I know how you feel. Just started xolair after mepo and benra were unsuccessful. Back on the pred - to have a normal life I would need 50mg a day.
