I have had surgery before during a flare up, they switched to a spinal because the endotracheal tube (breathing tube) can trigger an asthma attack per the anesthesiologist. So, to reduce the chance, they switched to a spinal (also had me use my rescue inhaler prior to surgery). As for feeling wheeze after, make sure you are taking full, deep breaths as it is common to take more shallow breaths, and move around if able to help your lungs inflate. If needed, contact MD (if worsens or doesn't improve). Good luck!
