Ache in my chest
Hi, I’m sorry to hear that your hurting. I also get this and funny to say in almost the same place and I have spoke to my consultant and my GP and they have done x-rays to double check but it’s mostly down to muscular pain where our muscles are working so hard to breathe. The heart and lungs have to do twice as much work and everything is connected.
In my case it sometimes feels like a stitch but in the wrong place and I can also feel it during non flare ups but those kinda wobble days.
Sorry I’m not sure how much of an asthmatic you are or how stable your health is. I have been severe asthmatic for 26 years.
But my point was it can be a dull ache that you get slightly more aware of if you have a flare up or bad asthma day.
Maybe try heat/ice, rest, some type of pain relief and if you are worried try the GP I know you said it was hard maybe a nurse or pharmacist can help instead just to give you some advice.
I hope you feel better
Jen
Just keep an eye on it. I have the same ache in the same place but additionally have a rib I broke 15 years ago in the same area. If I have an exacerbation of my asthma, cough more the pain and swelling of the muscles will increase until I have intercostal neuralgia! I then need a weeks course of diazepam!
Hello. Sorry to hear you are struggling with this pain. I had what sounds like the same thing. It was a pain/ache continuously in my lower right side in my back rib area. It would be there most of the time but got worse when I was getting a flare up. Since the first lock down and shielding I haven’t had it, possibly because I haven’t been at work with people with various bugs (that I would always get) ! So for me, it seems it was directly connected to the asthma. Just before the pandemic I saw an Airways Consultant who sorted out my treatment; he said my prescription was not working because I was on the wrong inhalers and too low a dose. In doing this, it is not an overstatement to a say, he changed my life and I will never be able to thank him enough. It took minutes and I’d been struggling for years getting nowhere with GP ANs and GPs who all kept telling me I was on the “optimum treatment “. Good luck.
Hi, hope you're well. I was just wondering how you got in touch with an Airway Consultant? I could desperately do with seeing one!
