Hi Everyone,

I am posting this because we regretfully had to remove a recent post(s) that implied the need for medical help.

Although a huge level of support and advice exists in this community, it is anonymous, online and not professional in nature.

In a critical situation, anonymous online advice carries the risk of misjudgement and harm, however well intentioned.

We have to stick to our rule of taking down this type of post for the safety of the whole community.

We have contacted the member(s) with advice and contact details for services that can provide the appropriate level of support for their situation.

Should you read something on the forum that concerns you please don’t hesitate to report this by using the report button under the post. If it is self-harm content you can choose to report it as this. (see link below)

Reporting helps us to respond in a timely manner.

Thank you all for your incredible support and kindness on the forum.

many posts here are "cries for help". I am not sure how removing such posts is helping those who were crying for help.

I think it is a judgement call for the moderators as to which posts to remove. The vast majority of posts are left alone for us to comment on. I am conscious of the post that was removed and have to confess to being deeply concerned by the post and for the welfare of the poster. If someone is indicating they may harm themselves then it could well be dangerous for us as concerned, but untrained, individuals to comment, however well intentioned.

I understand why action on that particular post was required.
