Hope everyone's finding the new HealthUnlocked community useful - it's great to see so many of you posting and supporting each other.
I've seen a few research questions pop up on here recently - I'm trying to keep track and take them down as they appear. Research questions are not allowed under the Forum Terms and Conditions, unless we've vetted them first - for more details see healthunlocked.com/asthmauk...
If you spot any research posts on the forum please report them and myself or another admin will remove them.
We're happy for research questions (i.e. someone asking for people to participate in research) to be posted - we would just like to have a chance to check them first.
We want to make sure that the research is scientifically valid and ensure that the results will be useful to people with asthma - essentially just a check to avoid any studies that are bogus, not clinically sound, or generally just not a good use of people's time to respond to.
Posts about the latest asthma research and news are of course absolutely fine.
Hope that explains it - but let me know if you have any questions!
It's more than likely there are posts, but they might be a bit hidden in the archives - I can't think of or see any recent ones that spring to mind.
If you haven't yet, try using the search bar at the top right to find posts around the topics you're looking for.
If you find a useful post, the 'related posts' list to the right-hand side of it might also help - there's a few related ones to your recent post that might be worth a look.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Pippa
There have been a couple of these that have come up on the forum in the past couple of weeks. You say you like to check them out first, which I quite understand, but how do those of us on the forum know if they have been approved by you when they appear?

Hi Maggie,
Thanks for your response. We'd always post them ourselves (i.e. from this account) if they're approved, so if you see any that aren't from us please report them.
Thanks,
Pippa

There's one on there now, posted today, about research for apps. More worryingly, I've just seen the individual responsible post on an 'popular' posting (title 'Please Help') expressing sympathy initially but then going on about the app. in question.
Can I suggest that you remind the forum that any research that is not posted by yourselves should be ignored as it is not there with your approval or knowledge.

I'll do so now, thanks very much for flagging Maggie!
I've deleted the original apps post but hadn't spotted the comment. I've also messaged the poster explaining the rules, so hopefully they won't post about it again.
Have a look at asthma.org.uk/research/for-... and get more context from asthma.org.uk/research/stra.... I have to say I don't entirely agree with your contention that there's been *no* innovation in treatment for asthma (asthma.org.uk/research/achi... but there's certainly a huge amount of scope for more! I'm personally very excited about work being done on smart inhalers and the kind of support that can be given 24/7 through data analytics and algorithms (more in our report on digital asthma care asthma.org.uk/get-involved/....
