Hi everybody well as, expected my asthma off again. Came off the 5 day course of pred and it took at least 5 days before I had, any relief. Thought I was, doing OK until a couple days, ago started tight in chest again and, couldn't do much. Last 2 nights only slept a few hours, waking up breathless and congested. Took 2 hours, this morn before I could even make a, coffee. Rang Docs, getting another 5 day course asked for more but refused as, quote they can cause other problems. As others know, I go on like this, until end, of Aug. They said, if I need any more pred later in month I will need, an asthma reviewzto consider change of meds. Only ever had ventolin and steroid inhaler seretide. So sitting here good for nothing waiting for them to come. Feel worn out and worthless. Roll om Autumn x

Asthma, flared again
It does sound as though you need a medication review if you're only prescribed Seretide and Ventolin despite repeated steroid tablets. There are other options and regular reviews by an asthma nurse should help you prepare for the summer flares by giving you a medication plan to follow.
I had exactly the same happen to me a few months ago. Was using same inhalers as you and had pred for 5 days as well. Had a meds review afterwards as not much improvement. Seretide was changed to Fostair and also given Montelukast. Change in meds has made a real difference.
Thankyou will do think I will struggle to get to end of Aug as will finish second, pred course on Sun. Not looking forward to asking them for more. I usually manage the summer with 2 courses but it flared early this, year early July instead of nearly at the end of July. Two years, ago I was in hosp for a, week and, they gave me a, 2 week course which did the trick.plus, regular nebs mind that was Aug They the only things, that get me through really. Hope you OK thanks x
Definitely get seen if your asthma is still flaring. I have had to go on several month-long pred courses in my life. I can definitely cause problems (I developed adrenal insufficiency) but sometime it's the last line of defense. It does sound like you need to add new meds and "step up" the regime. There's a good chart in this article that shows how doctors add on meds depending on symptoms-
