I'm currently on Montelukast and have been for years but it has some issues with my other medications and I'm thinking of asking to switch to something new. Is anyone on Pranlukast and is it as effective?

What are the differences between Montelukast and Pranlukast?
Are you in the UK? As far as I can tell, pranlukast isn't licensed here for any condition, so many people may not have heard of it, since this is a UK based forum. If you're also in the UK, then I would think you won't be able to get it.
It seems to be fairly widely used in Japan, but I don't know if it's actually that different from montelukast. Responses to drugs are also fairly individual, so it may not be that helpful even if you do find someone who's been on it (some people find montelukast great, some find it does nothing, some find they have side effects they can't tolerate).
If you need to switch, it's probably best to have a chat with your GP or asthma nurse about what you could take instead of montelukast and why you need to switch. You could also have a chat with the Asthma UK nurses beforehand to get a better sense of your options. The AUK helpline is on 0300 2225800, open M-F 9-5, or WhatsApp - 07378 606728.
