Trigger from vaccine

It seems unlikely but I wondered if anyone has experienced any coincidental timing of significant asthma changes/‘flare up’ and the vaccine.

I will be looking forward to my second vaccine and have no qualms about it, I’m just trying to find the trigger of recent rapid onset change.

Some people feel they may have so it's possible but it's never really possible to know whether it was the vaccine or not (unless someone had a massive immediate emergency type reaction - I guess that would be more obvious!)

As with any possible triggers (and often I don't know what mine are), just treat as you normally would.

I’ve had well managed low-level asthma with no change for 23years (caused by spores in damp house).

In recent weeks I’ve had a rapid-onset deterioration in spite of preventer dose being doubled. Now being treated fingers crossed.

It coincides with both the Sahara dust plume and Covid vaccine.

So apart from avoiding damp spores, triggers are not something I’ve previously experienced in all those years.

Hi CarnLesBoel Yes I have experienced a flare up after my Covid vaccination. My asthma is usually extremely mild but a couple of days after my jab I became short of breath. I was given steroids for 5 days and my doctor has prescribed the Fostair inhaler. I thought it was a coincidence but have heard this has happened to others. Either way just taking the new inhaler and waiting for it to kick in. Hope you're ok.

Yes I had increased coughing and shortness of breath following the covid vaccination. Could be a coincidence as I’m triggered by a lot of things!

That must be tough!

It’s a nuisance! But I’m learning to live with it.

All good for me with some 7 weeks since my shot. Only bit is on walks with the damn pollen starting up!

I feel the same, my asthma has never been controlled but I had my vaccine about a month ago and it left me feeling awful and ever since my asthma has gotten worse fast but it might just be a coincidence. I think they should investigate it really. Hope you’re feeling better.

I agree.Interestingly I’ve been contributing to C - 19 by Zoe for a year now and I notice that they’ve recently added a more comprehensive post-vaccine symptom/side effect, one of which is about allergies being exacerbated.

The second Sahara dust cloud hit on 1st April and so I’m struggling again.

Considering that we get this dust several times a year it’s interesting that it’s only now that it’s become a trigger.

7 months on from the first vaccine and my chronic cough, catarrh and breathlessness is now classed as ‘copd’.

My asthma nurse still thinks it likely that the vaccines are responsible.

I also lost my sense of thirst at this time - could these issues be related to the vagus nerve?

I’m going to try acupuncture since the mainstream medication doesn’t seem to be improving my condition.

I’m now very wary about any booster vaccine and my preference is to continue with minimal contact with other people!
